That's interesting. My kayak seems to be equipped with a bass shield

They don't target yakers no. but they have been known to steal a catch or two.
Bigger problem is some sharks have a rep for being unpredictable & will investigate
with their teeth just to make sure they aren't passing up an easy meal.

Cool. Hope they make it cheap enough so people actually buy it.

But then how would I catch them? hmmm

Sharks keep things exciting. No shield in the kayak for me.

Now, when I try spearfishing at the rigs this summer, then I might be interested. My buddy Glenn Madden said he saw a 12-foot hammerhead cruise by while he was snorkeling at one of the shallow rigs off Corpus. It's all fun in games until you're in the water with a bleeding/struggling fish attached to a string you're holding. bolt

Remember, there was a yakker killed in Hawaii earlier this year when a shark bit his foot, and he bled to death before a local tour boat could even get him to shore. In that one photo above, the guy's holding up his fish that a shark has severed cleanly in half while dangling both feet in the water....

lol That would still scare the tar out of me. Years ago I was on Lake Livingston and had a piece of drift-wood break free from whatever was holding it to the bottom and come up directly underneath me. People watching said I must have broken the record for a 50 yard swim to the nearest boat.

Lol!
Ive been bumped several times while surf fishing. cant say for sure by what because I never saw them.
I try to kick them but the r fast.

I think the practicle use of shark shield Is just to give u a 15' radius shield against a
curious shark ONLY. If It actually works, It'd also be good for spear fisherman surfers and surf anglers. Might be good for rescue rafts too. But for us, it would just b nice when we trying to land a fish or got seperated from the yak while btb.

someone said they were $800. Each smirk
Only found 1 article last night saying their testing was INconclusive
cause pieces of tuna with shark shield attached were taken several times.
so, you might say If a shark wants it, It could ignore the shield and try n take it Regardless.

We have 11 n 12' bull sharks and even big hammers that visit our coast From lousianna down to mexico.
12-14' tigers have recently been photo tagged n release around corpus.
Unbelievably big monster sharks seem to stay away from the our coast line for some reason.
Each of these sharks can kill a full grown man with 1 bite And thrash.

Ive litterally caught 4-5' blacktips less than 100yrd from where families w/ children were swimming.
Like parana In south america, You can count on them being In the water with u at any givin time. But,
they so rarely attack here and when they do, rarely is it fatal.
Maybe they saw the commercials...

Hahaha man I hate swimming in Galveston ever since I started kayak fishing for sharks. Just gives me the heebie jeebies. Now, Corpus I don't mind because there's actually a little bit of visibility. In Galveston, if you got attacked you wouldn't know it until you were in its mouth. The odds are astronomical but I just hate not being able to see 2 inches in the water.
