Hey guys, Im by no way a electrician but I know what the red, black and white line is for and how to crimp lines. What I want to do though is have the ability to use quick connection for the red and black wires going from my 12v battery to the fishfinder and that is waterproof. Does anyone have and idea on this application or have done it already. All help would be greatly appreciated.

You can go to most any of the northern tools or Tractor Supply even Harbor Freight. They sell a two wire plug. With the red white male female on both ends. Just wired in the circuit then you can unplug it as needed. Kinda like trailer light just with two wires.

yes. I purchased the yak attack cell block and I am going to keep the battery in there and when I want to charge it, just take it out. My fish finder will be on the cell block as weel . This looks like a good set up from what I see in the link. Thank you

I would use 14ga or 16ga if you are extending the wires any. However, if your FF already has the full connection from FF to battery, you will only need to cut and splice the connector in-line. Other note - be sure to have a fuse inline.....and that should be on the side between the connector and the FF. Not sure how much room the cell block has in it but it may get crowded. You def need the fuse.....you may want to re-think the quick connect if your battery can just stay in place and you can easily get the charger connections on the terminals.

Ok, I found a pic. IMO, I'm not sure what the quick disconnect does for you as it seems the battery terminals are easily accessible and in fact, easy enough to slide the battery out if you didn't want to leave it in place. But you may have a good reason(s) - FYI, the less connections in wiring, the less opportunity for failure. If you do go the quick disconnect route, I recommend solder followed by a thin layer of liquid electrical tape followed by heat shrink wrap (don't forget to put the HS on the wires before making the splice/connection.

Great point. I think Im gonna try and run the line straight to the battery since its right there next to the fish finder. I can just pull out and charge it when ready. Thanks for the great tips indeed!!

Can anyone share any pics of their inline fuse setup? I'm no electrician and need a visual.

Here's a video - she uses crimp connectors which will prob be fine but I prefer soldered and covered connections in a wet (below hull) environment. This goes in your hot lead (red) - just cut it where convenient for your application and put this "in-line". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDOZT-dTIToOther notes: The waterproof fuse blocks (as shown in this video) are preferred and check your FF instructions/specs but most recommend a 3amp fuse. I like the style of fuse shown in the video better than the other styles such as the round fuses. Likewise, keep extra fuses in your battery box or somewhere on your yak.
