I launch at a city park and the fishing is not too good around the park. I love pulling up and giving a family that is fishing a mess of fish. The smiles on their faces makes my day.

Was fishing Marble Falls lake in the back of a narrow creek in front of the park. several people where fishing from the bank and I catch a 5# bass. This guy starts hollering at me..."I'll take that fish if you don't want it!" I acknowledged him as I tossed it back in the water so he calls me an #$%@&^%. I ignored him and continued to fish, next fish is a healthy white bass and to get even I troll over to the people on the bank fishing next to him and offered the fish which they took.

I don't see a problem with accepting fish from someone and I've given my fish to people if I only caught a few. If I'm hungry and trying to make a meal, I could care less where the fish came from if its free.

I tend to think if you have no intention of keeping the fish for your own personal consumption, you should just c&r. However, seems logical to give the fish away for consumption rather than throw a dying fish back in the water. Unfortunately it's a grey area of the law. Should the fish go to your limit or the person you're giving it to?

They go towards your limit.

This reminded me of two young friends that decided to make a two day float on the Sabine river years ago. Being young and optimistic they took only their fishing rods, a skillet, and some gease. You can bet they were thrilled to accept a couple of gift fish a guy offered them the next day! Lol

Wow did not know they were for banning recreational fishing, I thought it was more like maintaining current commercial fisheries. Smart commercial fishing practices or something like that.

Honestly I don't know, course I have never heard this interpretation. Some say they are good others say they are bad.

Please inform me with facts so I can avoid all restaurants and companies.

From what I have read, EDF (at one time Darden was a part of General Mills, kinda glad they help EDF) has done alot of good, here's one thing:

I rarely keep fish, and I only keep a few when I do. Just enough for a few meals really.
But if I'm bank fishing next to some folks who are fishing for a meal, I'll offer to give them whatever I catch if I'm not keeping them that day. I'm just being neighborly, just as everyone else should. They may need it way more than I do. Jesus was a fisher of men, I'm just a fisherman.

When someone give me a fish for 2... I'll accept them if their legal and I'm not maxed out on my limit yet. Same thing go for baits.

I have been on both sides. I have fished with a buddy and given him my catch to make a mess to eat. My buddies have done the same for me. It is a shame to waste fish that are edible. We invite each other over with spouses and enjoy a fish fry.

When a person books a guide this is exactly what they are doing. They help you catch fish and will add to your limit. The great part is they will actually filet them.

I also will catch and release on many trips just because I enjoy fishing and relaxing enjoying the sport.

Don't sweat the small stuff. It's all small stuff.
