I just purchased a "new to me" Minn Kota Maxxum for my 17' Aluminum boat. I initially installed it using the rubber anchor's but there is wobble when I use it on any speed higher than 40. This weekend while on Toledo Bend, I had a guy inform me that those Maxxums are supposed to be Hard mounted directly to the bow. My question is this, what should I use to secure it down? Please note, I have no access to get into the bow hull to install any backing nuts or anything like that and I wasn't looking to "cut out" and access panel unless that is the ONLY way!! Will self tap screws do the trick?? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated..

This is called a "toggler" and I get them from Lowes. It is what I use on the metal boats that don't have access underneath. The 1/4" will go in the 1/2" hole where you put the rubber isolator and the stainless 1/4 - 20 bolt will fit the 1/4" size: [www.lowes.com/pd_115648-10337-50400_0__?productId=3183821]Toggler[/url]
