OK, can someone tell me how to identify a Guadalupe bass?

I will tell you this, they are very very close to the spotted bass and found only in the GuadaLupe and Perdenales (I believe). They are smaller, but direct cousins to the spotted bass. Over the years there has been a fear amongst biologist that the Texas State fish may be diluted in the gene pool due to stocking of other species in lake like Canyon and others. Although this may not be the case, you could certainly see where introduction of spotted bass in the Austin/San Antonio areas could be cause for concern! smile
