Less than a month ago, I bought a Duckett Ghost rod in 7ft medium heavy. Saturday while fishing a tourney, first cast of the day I go to set the hook on a fish and the tip just snaps off. Will they let me return it for a new one? I just did a normal hook set nothing different. I ended up snapping the tip off my abu Garcia veritas rod the same day while flipping.... Two $100 rods broke in one day but I can't return the veritas.

Bring the receipt and hope they will let you exchange it. I've brought mine without a receipt and they let me exchange them before...

I mean I've caught like 10 little dinks on that rod. There is no reason for it to snap. It was a very upsetting day. To the point where I didn't wanna pick up another rod afraid of snapping another one.

The veritas has a 3 year warranty, just send copy of reciept and $9.95 to Abu Garcia with the damaged rod and they will replace it.

2 in one day. Lots of ppl abused their return policy, so they changed it. They were buying broken rods for pennies and returning them for new - then selling and profiting off the "theft".

Two broken rods in one day is really really bad luck......Is it possible that something happened either in the handling of them or maybe in the rod locker that might have caused them to fail. I have seen the tips of high dollar rods (strapped down on the deck) break after slapping the hard recessed area on the side of the console before. Glass and composites are great at bending but sudden shocks not so much.

They definately weren't abused in travel. I baby everything I own. Rod socks, reel covers, ect. I guess it was just bad luck. I'm going to attempt to return the docket rod because it's basically brand new. That shouldn't happen. The veritas is older. Not gonna be that guy that goes and returns it for a new one. I just would like a new rod for the rod I just bought. And I guess I'm gonna break down and buy another rod. Any suggestions on a good 7ft rod? Looking into falcon, duckett, gsx, ect... Something in the se $100 range. Don't need to break the bank.

If academy will not replace it duckett actually has what I consider a good return policy on the ghost rods. I just recently had a new ghost break on me and called duckett constumer service, just send the broken rod and a 15$ money order to them and they will send you a new one.

Ive been reading that a lot of people break rods. Ive never broken a single rod. I have noticed its the guys with bass boats that break them. I never hear of kayakers or tubers breaking them. It has to be something involved in the transportation that's making this happen.

I've never had a problem and think they have one of the best return policies. They're just getting more strict because people trying to screw them.as for people in boats breaking them only that's kinda outta there.

Only rods I've ever broke are cheaper quality rods. The expensive ones will break too but its usually the lesser quality. You get what you pay for.

So you don't think it has anything to do with the abuse they take in the rod boxes?
