I am looking to re-string all my reels before my fishing season begins (yes I am behind - my boat is in the shop).
I am thinking about picking up a few Spiderwire Ultracast Ultimate Mono, but not sure if I want 6lb, 10lb, etc. Mainly crappie, stripper and bass fishing.
What line do you guys recommend?

15lb big game mono for moving baits and treble hook top waters 15-20lb invizx flouro for bottom baits 65lb power pro super slick braid for frogs and flipping thick stuff. If I were to pick an all around dependable fair priced line it's big game mono. You could get 3-4 spools of differnt lb test and a lot for cheap.

Seaguar Red Label simply because its damn good, has never failed on me and is fairly inexpensive. Basically it just works very well. I also live Sunline but the Seaguar RL is a lot easier to get.

I try and buy my yearly supply in Dec when you can get Invisx for 25% off. I usually buy 4-5k yards and it will usually last a year.

I throw 12lb Trilene XL for moving baits and 15lb Invisx for plastics.
The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.

Depends on the baits I am throwing. I like to use. P-Line Floroclear - Just smooth and nice Carbon Pro "Invisix" Fluorocarbon line - Strong and sinks fast, quality. Stren Flurocast - Smooth and nice berkley Fire Line - Super thin, quit and nice. big game mono - For the Big Boys, nice line.

There are three nylon monofilament/copolymer lines that I like. P-Line CX Premium, McCoy in either Blue/Fluorescent, or Clear, and Mason's Bass-On. The CX Premium has the highest tensile strength of of any mono/copoly that I know of. This means that CX Premium is most typically thinner for a given pound test than other lines, and very much thinner in many cases. McCoy is just a good all-around line. Mason's Bass-On is as limp of a line as I've ever used outside of well used braid. It has a Smoke color that I also like for blending into water that's stained, and it also is low-vis against the sky. When it comes to fluorocarbon line the best that I've ever used on baitcasting gear is without question Sunline Shooter, just super fluorocarbon. Sunline is, as Mark pointed out, harder to find than most other lines, and you pay $$$$ for it. In general I'm fond of Seguar InvizX which performs very nicely and is not so expensive. Which is NOT to say that's it's inexpensive. I've heard that there's a new Trilene 100% fluoro that handles very, very well for a fluoro, and I should like to try it to see how well it works especially on spinning gear. I'm not exactly what one would call a fan of braid. The only braid that I've really liked is Dawia Samurai, but only the two highest pound tests that's it's offered in. BTW I ONLY used ABU Mörrum reels with the triplecross levelwind system. Triplecross post. Almost all my spinning gear is spooled with CX Premium. If I could only use one type, brand, etc. line it would probability be CX Premium. TFP

Mark, I seem to recall that you're a fan of Sunline Sniper. My question here is do you prefer it (Sniper) to Shooter, and if so why? Also, have you given Tatsu a go, and if so what's you opinion of it? TFP

I use 15 to 20lb seaguar for tx rig and Carolina rig reels, and 14 and 17lb trilene XL on others . 30lb power pro on one reel for frogs and heavy cover.

I tried the sunline but didn't like how it looped up weird on the spool, Don't know if it was just the line or what but I havnt had that problem with seaguar invizx before.

Just a little friendly advice. . .don't buy anything that says Spiderwire. It's not good line and you may lose the fish of a lifetime because of that junk.
If you want more reasonably priced line, buy Berkley Big Game. If you don't mind spending a few extra bucks, and line is a place where I don't mind, I would by Invizx or Red Label Seaguar.

P-line CX Premium: copolymer with an outer coating of fluorocarbon. Handles well, especially with KVD line conditioner. Low visibility. I like the clear/fluorescent color - easy to see the line move.
In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.
