I should be out there in a few hours myself. I too need to take a look at the water level; hopefully it brought up a new load of fish

I am never good at catch fish in a creek right after a rain, especially Hictory, water is too milky and muddy.

Good luck DPJ hope to see a good report. I didn't make it out there yesterday either but depending on how anybody does I may get out and hit the creek next week. Being a sand bass rookie I can relate fishing for them like stream fishing for trout, except the bass fight a lot harder. I may get addicted to this type of fishing

Hybrids are in Hickory creek now!

22 to 18 In and two sand bass. If your under the bridge you will find snagging them is very easy not my game but I sure did see some go to the stringer on hooked on the back and tail.

and they taste just the same as the ones hooked in the mouth.
here's the deal- they're foul hooked, not "snagged"
every fish I caught today struck at my lure

They might taste the same but they can be really expensive. Game warden was there about 6 this evening. Don't know if he got a call or not but he just missed a group of guys that were keeping foul hooked sandies and hybrids. I saw them lined up across the creek when I got there and talked to a couple guys who told me that most hybrids being caught were being hooked in the back but didn't find out til later that those guys were doing it on purpose and were keeping every one of them. Warden said he would have been there earlier and caught em but got held up somewhere else. Multiple people told them what they were doing was illegal but they still left with all the fish they hooked, some undersized and I believe someone said over limits as well.

Thats a grey area.
It's illegal to intentionally snag the fish. But If the fish struck the lure, missed the lure, and got hook on the side. The law does not say that you cant keep the fish.
I ask this particular question about catching ribbon fish, got direct answer from game warden saying that is OK. I am really confused now.

From TPWD website

"It is unlawful to take or attempt to take fish with one or more hooks attached to a line or artificial lure used in a manner to foul-hook a fish (snagging or jerking). A fish is foul-hooked when caught by a hook in an area other than the fish's mouth."

I can see how it could be viewed as it's illegal to TRY and snag them on purpose, but it also says it's illegal to take fish that are foul hooked, and foul hooked is hooked anywhere but the mouth. Warden today was even telling a guy who was new to fishing that if you foul hook one to just release it. I'm not the decision maker on what would actually get you a ticket, I just know that multiple people told me that the guys there today were casting to where the fish were stacked to purposely snag them which is clearly stated as unlawful. And to me it takes all the sport out of it anyway, it's like a much slower and more tiring version of cast netting.

I will say that the ones I took home was hooked in the mouth. I will also say that I hooked at least 20 today in the back or tail they are in there that thick...
The ones I took home today was before the sun came up nice hits and that was that I left kinda mad as I was seeing fish hooked in the back and put on stringers I did not want to be a part of that. Snagging fish in Denver can be done in September for spawning Samoan with big treble hooks. I will do that if I want to catch fish that way.
I was using a white road runner today.
