Anybody catch anything today? I am having a tough time finding fish. I've been shallow and mid range throwing plastics, rattletraps, cranks, spinnerbaits, and jigs and can't catch them. Where would you look in the current conditions? Cloudy, 10 mph winds, and 62 degree water. Also what techniques/lures would you use?

If you have side scan capabilities then I would idle out and around every little point close to deep water that has any cover on it to hold fish.
Once I found them I would start with chatterbait with darker colored skirt and swim tale senko. - If no reaction strikes take place: - For plastics try a 3/8 oz. T-rig 7" Pumpkin Seed Power Worm. - T-rig 6" zoom lizard in Watermelon with the tail barely tipped chartreuse. - Drop Shot 12 to 14 inches with 1/4 oz. weight to throw on bedding fish with a Pumpkin seek senko with tail barely tipped chartreuse.
I use 100% Minnow Oil on all my fast moving baits. All slow moving baits get the Night Crawler Oil.

Forget the fish finders/electronics this time of year, if you can't see or touch the bottom with your rod you are probably too deep. Water temps is what you need to be aware of. Fish will be on or around the bank somewhere in the lake you fish. Sure, you could go out deeper and find fish with a graph but why. This is the easiest time of the year to catch fish because they are shallow. If you can't catch a fish shallow this time of year on a senko type bait either weightless, or with a light weight, chances are your not gonna catch them. A slow moving bait like a chatterbait is a good choice also. Don't get caught up in the, you need expensive electronics, snake oils this time of year, you do not! Keep it simple and hit the banks or spawning areas in spring.

Keep it simple and hit the banks or spawning areas in spring. That's what I tried today. Fished a few areas ranging from 3 to 5 feet deep. Checked the bottom with my rod to see what kind of material the ground was made of. One area was silty so I didn't stay there very long. Two other areas were hard bottom and we threw a small spinnerbait and texas rig creature bait and couldn't find anything. Maybe I needed to slow down a little more.

Yea I completely disagree with the "fish shallow, no electronics, etc." advice. After these fronts, the fish in shallow water that aren't locked onto beds will usually move out out the first break. In most lakes that'll be in 6-8 feet of water. I'd get on the electronics and scan any drain, creek, or point that the 1st break is detectable on. It's not uncommon to find them really stacked up after a front like this, in slightly deeper water than they had been in. The drains especially hold fish this time of year, they're like little highways for the fish moving in and out, and with a front, they'll be moving.

I have seen fish locked down on beds after these recent fronts. They are already behind and they are dealing with it fairly well.

Couldn't catch a cold today. Didn't dress for the chilly weather on the water so we left early. Only fished a couple hours this afternoon and headed back in.
