In the winter I got Cabin fever pretty bad, so I drove 3.5 hrs to find decent water temps at powerplant lake. It was well worth the drive.

Yep I will drive 2 hours in the winter to get to power plant lakes. Other times of the year...no need to drive more than an hour.

If it is there and back the same day; probably 3 hours one way.

Monticello or Welsh from Glen Rose is three hours one way during the winter when the days are not so long and I've got to be at work the following morning. Each time I get home I swear it's the last time...until the next day I can't wait to go again.

I live in the Houston area so to get to a good lake it's a minimum of 2.5 hours and that covers Cassels Boykin or Caney on Rayburn, Coletto Creek, Bastrop, Houston County and Fayette. 3 hours to Toledo and Naconiche. Made the 5 hour drive to Caddo last year but spent the night. If I just want to get on the water and work hard I'll drive 1.5 hours to Conroe or Livingston.

Driven 180 miles to Alan Henry for day trips 'bout a zillion times. It was well worth it. I can't afford to do it nearly as much nowadays with gas prices...

I live in Houston too. I drive regularly to Fayette and Rayburn. I'm committed to learning Conroe better because I can get there in 50min. I don't mind the drive to Rayburn but it wears me out if I do it in one day. I'd rather spend the night there.

Yep. I live in the same area you do. Close, we have Conroe, Livingston, lake Houston, Sheldon Reservoir Raven. To get to real lakes, it's a bit of a drive.,
