guys, keep an eye out for them...I was fishing yesterday and a guy went to keep a crappie and I told him it looked to small. He asked in very broken English how big to keep. I told him 10". I pulled out my tape and measured it at almost 9". I told him to throw it back and he tried to put it on his stringer. I told him, NO...that is illegal. NO KEEP UNLESS 10". He said ok keep...I said NO, throw back. It took 5 minutes of telling him to throw it back before he finally did. THEN, his freaking buddy caught one that was about 6" and quickly threw it in his cooler. I yelled at him, NO DAMNIT, THAT"S ILLEGAL. He said, I no have measurer. I told him I don't care and neither will the game warden, it is WAY too small. He said he was keeping it so I got out my phone. I said if he didn't throw it back I would call the warden. Funny how he understood THAT! I told them it is illegal and a $250 fine to keep undersized fish. The guy got pissed and threw the crappie back in, halfway across the lake and it skipped a few times. Non English, Non-law abiding BASTARDS! Those guys were throwing their trash all over the place too. I hate those kind of people, they really piss me off. Wish I was an undercover cop/warden... Sorry for the rant, but that stuff has GOT to stop!
Fly tier (yeah, I can fly fish...but the fish don't like frothy water!)

Quit warning these people all that does is make them sneekier , as soon as you see it call the warden. Seriously guys the only way people like those learn is with a heafty fine and having their equipment taken. I cant stress enought I've seen these kind of people you warn them and as long as your watching over their shoulder they follow the rules but you blink and they are right back to poaching.

Just call the warden and engage in friendly talk to keep em there until the warden arrives. Then you can be a witness when they dump the fish into the lake tryin to beat the law!

Yes, I agree. Have seen various aliens keeping to many or too small fish..... Tried to find a warden and when I did they could not be found. So we keep the Warden's phone number handy.
Thanks for your comments
Using the site for a while...this is really great to share fishing ideas and success with others.

Been having that problem at Belton for about 6 years now. Wardens have been called several times and tickets issued. Usually happens at Temple Lake Park in April when the whites move in close to the bank chasing shad. This group keeps 5 gal buckets in their trunk and one bucket on the bank by them. The short fish go in the bucket in the trunk. Before daylight they throw the cast nets keeping every fish they catch, size doesn't matter. Now this group has acquired 3 boats and they throw cast nets during the night to catch whites and anything else under their lights. There are some restaurants buying the fish from these guys. After tickets are issued, they stay away for about a week and then slowly start showing back up. Believe me, they know what they are doing is illegal.

Just writing tickets is not going to slow these type of guys down. They could careless about fines much less paying them. Just like getting a traffic ticket. A lot of people don't have the money to pay em and thus a warrant is usually issued. The legal system is loaded with misdemeanor warrants. A sure way to stop this is to impound boats, cars, and all their fishing equipment. Hit them where it hurts. Right in their pocket book and make it as inconvenient as possible for em. Just my two cents.

So what does the guy speaking broken English have to do with poaching crappie? Nothing that I can see other than showing how ya feel about a race other than yours and trolling to see how many others on here feel the same as you.

As Ketchn stated, broken English has nothing to do with it. It's an outlaw mindset that crosses all races and nationalities.
Most of those I see keeping undersized fish at Joe Pool are "good ole boys", born and educated in this country. They keep undersized fish and will often get aggressive if you say anything to them about it.
The nice ones will tell you the reason there are so many undersized crappie in the lake is people not taking them home. That crappie fishing would improve if more of the smaller fish were removed from the lake. Or that the crappie would die anyway so it's better they take them home and not waste them. The others will tell you to mind your own f'ing business and get aggressive about it.
So now I simply walk to my car and call the game warden. I give a description of the people doing it and where I see them store the fish. But often they leave before the gw arrives.
The game warden needs to start taking cars and boats if they want to put a stop to it. Taking a few rods and issuing a ticket will not stop those who feel they have the right to do whatever they wish.

Hey guys/gals--its pretty easy... When ever you see this happening. Do not speak with suspect(s) Take a video recording device..ie..your phone to video, small video camera,a short video of suspect(s) doing what they are doing that is against the laws of the state.Call operation game thief hotline..they will have a warden close to you call you quick...OR... if you have a wardens number...call him or her--- tell yours and suspect(s)location at present, what is going on and then send him the video and let him take it from there. If you can get their license plate and vehicle description even better as well for the wardens..The Texas wardens are FULL Law enforcement state police officers with all powers in full law enforcement other than wildlife and fish laws. They are all our friends and need our help and can not stand law violators any more than we do as it take resources and our tax money away from us.. so give them a call and a prayer and see what happens.
