Being that you're not familiar with the lake, I advise you to stay on that end (south) of the lake. There are very few hazards and the fishing is picking up down there.
To start off, find you a lake map and draw a line from Caney Creek straight across to Veach Basin. That is where the main lake timber starts on that "arm" of the lake. Anywhere you want to run between that line the Public Boat ramp (off 255 east of the dam) is a safe run. The buck Bay area has some timber in it, but I'd tell you don't even worry about going up that way. I sure wouldn't suggest going up the Mill Creek side either.
Fish Farmer's, Five Fingers, Norris Creek, Coleman and Veach. That will allow for weeks worth of fishing. I've heard a couple good reports this week about wacky rigged Senkos. Also, chatterbaits seem to be catching a few fish. The Rat-L-Trap bite isn't what it used to be. I wouldn't waste my time throwing a trap. If you sight fish, then you should be able to find some fish on beds in that area also.
You're not going to have a lot of people give you much info on Rayburn. There's always 2-3 tournaments every weekend there and people just won't give up info. I usually don't say much but it's Friday and I'm bored at work.
