Okay guys, between work, grad school, the chiropractor, and trying to get this Devil's River video finished, I haven't had time to post a full report from our paddlefish trip, and I still don't. But here are some pictures to hold you over and give you an idea. Let me just say that we're pretty sure what we accomplished this weekend has never been done in kayak fishing before. The three of us hooked into 14 paddlefish, all of them huge. We broke the Kayak Wars record twice in one day. The smallest fish of the day was 45 pounds, the biggest broke 80. All fish were hooked, fought, and landed in the kayaks. The strength of these fish is absolutely insane and it rivals the 6-foot sharks I landed last summer, but the challenge is greater because instead of the whole ocean to work with while they tire out, we had to muscle these fish in with nothing but a 15-foot wide stretch of river to work with. It was nuts. Snagging these beasts was the most physically exhausting fishing I have ever done by a landslide. I'm still sore. This was an experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. I'm sitting on some incredible footage that I will begin digging into as soon as I release the Devil's River video, which is tentatively scheduled for Monday. In the paddlefish video I will discuss the technique, strategy, tackle, challenges, etc. so stay tuned. Subscribe to my channel (in my sig) to catch it when it airs. Thanks for looking and tight lines everybody!

Great to see numbers from this fish species after their decline. Such a gorgeous Polyodon. I love the sensory pattern on the bottom of their rostrum. After studying these fish I would love to catch one, I have only seen lab specimens. Great job and hopefully all releases went well. Kudos I am truly jealous.

It's a truly incredible place. The video will air on Monday evening so check it out when you get back man and let us know how your trip went! Take lots of pics, that place is awesome. Where are you putting in/taking out and for how many days?

I'm just doing a day trip Saturday and possibly Sunday if weather isn't too bad. I've seen/heard of people going upstream a bit from Bakers Crossing so I am going to give that a go. I only live 50 minutes from Bakers so it isn't much of a trip for me. One weekend I was thinking of doing the trip from Bakers to the Devils Rivers Natural Area looked to be doable in a 2 day trip. Ultimately I'll make a full trip of it just not sure when.

One weekend I was thinking of doing the trip from Bakers to the Devils Rivers Natural Area looked to be doable in a 2 day trip. Ultimately I'll make a full trip of it just not sure when. We went from the top State Natural Area to the lower one at Devil's Back Takeout. It was only about 24 miles and we had 5 days and 4 nights to do it. That let us take our time and fish areas thoroughly. We still felt rushed because of how many rapids we encountered that slowed our progress with the water a little low. Day 3 was NOTHING but rapids; I didn't catch a single fish. It was a blast though and we landed some nice fish. There's no experience quite like living out of your kayak for 5 days in a rough environment and terrain. It was an experience I'll never forget. Working on the music and audio today, then final tweaks tomorrow. Video will be posted up on our Facebook page ( www.facebook.com/YakFishTV) and my YouTube channel ( www.youtube.com/YAKnAGGIE) Monday around 5:00 PM central so people can watch it after work.
