Big Game as a rule is business especially on cranks etc. You sir just got a bad spool of it. It happens and it's more likely an issue of it being stored in direct light for a long period of time by the retailer. Heat and light are brutal on fishing line...

Same thing happened to me this weekend, broke a fish off with big game # 15, it was new line but it's the first time I ever had problems with it.

I want say anything bad about anyone's product. To me it is just 15 lb. test any line. I can't even drag a bass out of a pond over the scum and onto the the bank without it breaking unless I retie after every fish caught. for me 17 lb. test line is where it all begins with a world of difference. I've swung bass over cat tails and up steep river embankments from the bank all on either 12 or 15lb test mono and fluoro. You guys must be doing something wrong or are getting bad batches of line?

I quit Big Game years ago for the same reason. You never knew if the spool would be good or not, to inconsistent ! I lost one of the biggest bass of my life using a brand new spool of 15# Big Game and I had it in free spool letting him run when it broke ! I call them and they said to send it back and they would replace it but heck, it would cost more to send it back than I paid for the spool. I went to Izorline and have never had any problems since...love it !
Never test the depth of the water with both feet.

I've used various 15lb lines and broken them all if I got rough with them. I agree 15 CXX is tougher than the others but I think it has larger diameter.

I'd have to call bad line as well. I only use big game on a rigs or 10xd's but I don't think the fact it was 15lb anything is the problem.
Weekender has seen me pull a boat with 8lb vicious trying to break a drop shot off a brush pile and last week I hauled in an extremely mad 20lb carp on 12lb vicious.
The only time I've had an issue like you're describing was on 12lb pline copoly that was just a bad spool and I broke three fish off in a row on the hook set at martin.

I hate big game with a passion Agree! Though it is good for about two weeks before it transforms itself into the longest Slinky known to mankind!

After hundreds of days on the water with it and large numbers of giant fish caught on it...I can say it is probably the best line available at anywhere near that price point. Looks like a bad or old batch.

I use 15# Big Game for boat trailer safety chains and for fishing in the stumps and grass beds. Haven't lost a boat trailer or fish yet due to the line breaking.

I can usually straighten a hook on 12 pound big game, been using it for years too.
