Hey Y'all...Need some help...for my birthday I got tickets to the Duck Dynasty 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. My son and I are going up there on Saturday April 5 and we are looking to catch some bluegill or maybe crappie in that area. We're from Houston....never fished up there.

Can you tell me where some good public spots, marinas who allow access form docks, parks, etc where the bluegill fishing is good? We want to fish that Saturday afternoon/evening and maybe Sunday morning before we head to the race.

Thanks.

I think the motor speedway is close to College Station. I heard there is a pretty good pond by the Bush Library that is pretty good for Bluegill. Don't know of any other spots. eeks You may want to Google the area. hmmm

Thanks...the track we're going to is the one by Fort Worth but we're staying in Lewisville. The track by College Station is no longer used for any big races. Thanks so much...hope we can get some fishing in before we get our eardrums ruptured by the NASCAR race.

There are a lot of lakes in the Dallas/Ft Worth Area! Hopefully you can find one with some active Gills.

Lewisville has Lake Lewisville. Pretty good size reservoir. Should be able to find open bank spots to catch a few gills.

A few places to try. Denton Creek - take 114 from the track going East. Turn left (north) onto 377. About 2 miles up that way you'll see a parking area on the right after you cross Denton Creek bridge.
Denton creek crosses 407, or rather 407 crosses the creek, north of the race track. Take 156 (it's the road running on the west side of the track complex parallel with 114 to the East)toward Justin. In Justin take 407 East about 1.5 miles and you'll see the bridge.
I haven't seen the water levels there lately. If it hasn't rained recently you might have to walk east toward the lake to find fishable water.
Now if someone could tell me were to get minnows in Bossier City....

Also check out any business/office park ponds on google maps, they are easier to fish on weekends and normally have active big BG once the water warms.
