Since I have no boat access, I really had the urge to try and bank fish for some crappie with todays warm weather & yesterdays somewhat warm rain. After work, I stopped and got some minnows before making my way to Palestine. I got there around 4 and stayed until 530 just before the big storm started pouring down. And let me tell you, i was working hard for about 30 minutes, moving around and about. trying different color jigs ect. I was really frustrated but i just had the feeling that something good would happen. Little did i know it, I hooked into what i thought was a decent sized LMB, BUT really it was a SLAB, 2lb, Personal Best crappie I've ever caught. & My first crappie of 2014! You can say I was handling that monster like it was my life. If i didn't land it, i wouldve beat myself up for a couple weeks de . I was using a bobby garland baby shad with a pink 1/16 jighead under a bobber 2 feet deep in about 6-9 feet of water i would say. They were hitting the minnows as well at the same depth. Today was about quality not quantity Haha. Had an awesome day on the water! Thanks for taking a look. - Josh

That sandie was 11 inches! look at that monster! Also got a black crappie as well!

Just over 14 in!

Right at 2 lbs!

GREAT JOB Josh! That's a beautiful Lake Palestine White! I'll tell you for a fact it was heavier than 2# when you caught it! Stress & time out of the water took several oz off her! I'm tryin to recognize your location from that little sliver of water & a bridge column in the background. I'm thinking either Kickapoo or Flat Creek. Anyway, Nice Catch!

That's great news Josh! That's the first report of shallow fish on the South end!

So if they're coming shallow on the south end, the north end should be doing better right? I wanted to try and do some night fishing if the weather stays warm.

Historically, if the fish are in skinny water on the South end, they're pretty close to being Done on the North end. That's how it's been on Palestine in years past anyway. The North end is such an expanse of shallow flats that the water quickly heats up & the big females are in a rush to do their bidness!
