These pictures are of two fish caught in a small creek that runs through a park in South Arlington. This part is about 10 feet wide and as deep as about 4 feet in some spots. Only a few hundred yards of it is like the the rest is mostly to shallow to support any fish like these. I watch people walk with in feet of it all the time and never even notice it. Most people have no idea what lives in the middle of the city with out anyone stocking it or things like that. The fist one is a greensunfish I caught. I am a pretty big guy and as you can see he is hand sized. I put the little scrapper back in his home of course. This is a male in full spawning colors. They are really pretty like this. The next two are of a Longear Sunfish my son caught. These don't do the little fish justice his orange/red color was much brigher in real life. Got to get a better camera. My son with his longear My boy and I fish these little creeks all the time with ultralights and night crawlers. We have seen some really awesome stuff come out of these creeks. Snappers Eels Amphriams Catfish Bass Never much size (cept for the turtles) but it is really cool to see mother nature doing her thing even in small creeks most people over look or call a ditch. If you have such a creek near you drown a worm in there a time or three you never know what will come out. Right now at the beginning of summer is the best time to try it by the way,

I take my kids to some creeks (some with small dammed ponds) all of the time. It's great. Houses everywhere and in the middle we are pulling out tons of fish! Brim and bass.
Like you we send them all home.
Sometimes I think the world has gone completely mad. And then I think, "Aw, who cares?" And then I think, "Hey, what's for supper?"

Cool pictures! I love fishing creeks, and seeing what's in there. Especially if said creeks turn out to have carp lol.

Beautiful fish. I catch those guys all the time in the creeks, and I can sit there and do it all day long. It's as fun as fishing gets for me.

muuurph,
This is at Cravens. You follow the concrete path past the pond about a hundred yard and the creek is on the right. It is tough to fish in some areas but there are some easy spots to for a kiddo.
Better and easier get some hotdogs, number 4 eagle claws and fish that pond on the bottom. You will catch more bullheads then you can shake a stick at,

That's pretty cool. You've caught Eel in that creek as well? American Eel I imagine, migrating upstream.

Bear Creek that runs through Euless is usally pretty good for bream. I have spent several afternoons chasing them. I have even caught some pass on ultra-lite that will give a pretty good fight. Look for access in Bear Creek Park and Bob Eden Park in Euless for some fun fishing.

Thanks Jack, I thought that it might be Cravens. I have fished that pond before, but never the creek. Might have to take the fly rod for some real fun!
Thanks again!

Well there are two good spots first one there is a path through the brush goes right to it big drop off and a big bend.
Next spot is about 25 yards more down the path there are two pipe lines going across it you can walk out on them and cast pretty easy.
Kind of tough for a small kiddo though if you have a real youngen stick to the bend at the first spot and watch them like a hawk.
That area is where I find lots of bullsnakes by the way,
