Well finally got out and about this past weekend and fished some of the ponds in College Station.
Saturday morning: went to John Crompton park and caught 2 LMB both under 1 lb, 8 blue gill, and 2 texas shiner minnows
Saturday afternoon: Went to Central Park Pond only caught 1 Lmb at 1.3 lbs
Sunday morning: i tried the pond in front of the police station and caught about 3 lmb and 4 blue gill. Did get a major strike that peeled into backing but hook broke off. So could have been a cat, carp, or a very large bass. I was using a 9ft 5 wt and used a size 12 wooly bugger, big strike was on a white clouser.
Now back to school for exams. Had fun exploring College Station so if you have anymore spots please feel free to PM me. Thanks

My brother and I were flinging clousers in the pond in front of Bush library when Bush 41 walked up. "There are fish in there, wow I'll have to bring my rod and join you next time." We never caught very many out of there, but it was a pretty spot.

We weren't fishing, but we were inside the library when Bush Sr came walking through with the Australian PM. My daughter got her picture taken with him. This happened during her campus tour of A&M. You'd think that would be a pretty strong recruiting tool, but she went to OU instead...

We probably fished Gibbons Creek Reservoir more than anywhere else. Water clarity can be excellent. Our usual pattern was to kayak from the ramps North to one of the two feeder creeks. We would set out some lawn chairs in the flats and a cooler of beverages and then proceed to wear out the bass that were cruising all over those flats if we could keep our flys away from the longnose gar. We also caught and kept a few tilapia out of there.

I did too but there are no signs and we have fished it many times in the last year or so.. Just enter along the railroad tracks behind the old powerplant.

I've fished Finfeather before and although you catch a bunch of fish, not any real size to them that I have found. Good lake for evening topwater and a kayak...

Sounds like a good place to practice catch and release....

I would not trust anything coming from a city pond or lake. Just the run-off from the roads is bad enough to make the fish sick or die, so think what it will do to you! C&R at Finfeather and whatever is downstream of that point..

I remember catching some tilapia and bass from lake Bryan. Always liked to go to Madison I think and fish a city pond there from my canoe.

Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, he'll be gone every weekend.
