which guide was it! let us know. sometimes these guides need to be put out there! tired of them complaining about everything in the world and then doing the same thing to others!!
WHATS HIS NAME!!?? I am friends with more than a couple and will often just fun fish Fork or other lakes with them. I have yet to see one cut off another angler or be rude on the water. Just last week when I had engine trouble Caldemayer stopped with clients in his boat to see if we needed any help. That is just one instance. Was fishing Fork with Redington one day a few summers ago. We were fishing deep on a spot and had caught a few swimmers. Nothing major. The infamous GPS bandit that frequents Fork and Hubbard idled up to us and starting doing figure 8's while hitting buttons on his grasp. Easily within a short cast of us. We are in Tom's boat and I am getting pissed. Tom is just fishing and acting like the guy ain't there. I asked Tom if he was gonna say anything to the guy. I told him if he didn't then I would. Tom simply replied that he earns some of his living on public water and as soon as he opened his mouth regardless of how right he is someone would run on a forum like this or tell everyone they know that he thinks he owns the water etc. Basically he would be wrong even though it was warranted to say something in this case. He basically took the high road and shrugged it as part of the deal.+ Careful painting them all with the same brush. Majority of those guys out there are as nice and humble as can be.

I agree with half of your post. There are many more folks in this old world than there has ever been. That goes for lakes as well.
The difference now is lack of courtesy because there is no fear of getting called out for your actions. 30 years ago, men were men. They spoke their mind and stood up. They didn't "just live with it." I agree with half of your post. Men were men, but even when called out these days (which I've been known to do), ill-mannered people continue to do as they please. Manners and respect for others has to be taught. Too many these days don't teach, too many don't get taught.

never said it was all of them. the vast majority of guides are normally always just trying to help. it is the cutting the guy off like he doesnt matter that ticks me off. he did it for himself, had no care about the guy fishing there.
most guides that i know and read about are jumping over seats to grab nets, telling random people (that dont take trips) where to fish, and even coming on here to write huge post on how and where he has been catching them at! everyone is quick to tell those guides good job (which is deserved). but when one does something "wrong" it is pushed under a rug. and yes, some people here would jump at the chance to say 'what do you own the lake". thats the same people that are going to go out there and run figure 8's around a guides boat!
P.S I am speaking about this guide and his actions. Whom ever he may be!

As good as the lake sounds, kinda glad I can't travel that far. Sounds as if it has a lot of folks fishing there, most good but there is always one or two that will 'make your day'. Forgot, LOL, 'Smile, make'm wonder what your up to'.....

We have all gotten too close at one point. I remember a time when I wasn't paying attention and got WAY too close. You just have to be nice about accidents. On fork probably 60 yds isn't that close. But I don't know.

I almost ran over a guy's bobber one day on Ray Hubbard... while he was fishing on the BANK!! I had just put my first side imaging unit on my skeeter... and was totally focused on the neat stuff... I apologized and offered the guy the rest of my day fishing for crappie with him... He just laughed and said he was just out for the outdoors/rest mostly, and didnt have the time.

I just have to chime in. Life is too short to get bent out of shape about having someone else in the same cove as you. Sure, I would be pissed about him idling by 15 yards away when there is plenty of room, but to stop 60 yards away and start fishing. You can't cast that far, most reels don't hold that much line.

Sounds like the "guide" in a red Skeeter that cut me off in Birch creek last week except he didn't even give me that much room. Probably more like 25 yards. I didn't say a word just got on my trolling motor and went around him and continued to fish the creek channel. Not sure who he was but I know he was a guide since he was standing on front deck with arms folded while the other two gentlemen were casting where he pointed for them to throw.
I guess I've been lucky as I have fished Fork off and on since it opened and this is the first time I've seen anyone this blatant in their cutting someone off. I guess in his mind if you have an out of state boat it makes it okay.

I have had good and bad experiences with guides. Way more good than bad. One stopped and pulled me in when I was headed in on the TM and gave me a ride to another ramp to get my truck. There are some good guys out there for sure.
We did have one run into Long Branch many years ago and wash me and other boats into the shore with a giant wake. Not a fast idle... nose in the air giant wake. This was well inside the first point past the first boathouse on the right. He pulled into the first cut on the right and dropped his TM and headed for what was obviously a bed fish. My brother and I cranked up and pulled right in with him and started casting away. Barely room for two boats. He said "we must be on these boys spot". I said "no, you just washed us off our spot". It went downhill from there. But I got my point across.

It's Fork and it's spring time, it's not right or at all tactful. But, it happens a lot on Fork. It's surprising a guide would do that, I've been approaching a good spot several times and had a guide behind me and I've told them to go ahead of me. His clients want to catch fish and paid some good money and most the time they aren't on a shallow spot long and I can come behind them and still catch some fish. This is exactly why I mostly fish the west end of the lake when the crowds get to Fork. A lot of people are frightened going up there, plus it's nasty muddy water so most don't want to fish it. Only 2 people I ever see up there are Ken A and Mark Perry

Give the guy a break! He is trying to make a living on the lake and probably didn't have his Crystal Ball with him....Bada Bing!
But in all seriousness you just cant let this bother you. Life has a funny way of turning around...who knows...you may be broke down on the water next week and it will be this guy who tows you back to safety.
