My rope broke on my Minn Kota trolling motor. I tried a small rope from my garage and it wasn't strong enough. Does some one sell a replacement rope or can I get a certain type of rope from a hardware store?

Mine broke several years ago I went to home depot and took a piece of the broken rope with me and matched size and type installed and has worked great this has been about 4 years ago. I have read where some people install steel cable of the same size.

Yup, forget "ropes" and go cable. You won't regret it. When you pull on the rope type you sometimes have to pull a little harder, or "pop it" to get it to release. Well, that won't be an issue anymore with the cable type. Since there is no stretch or give in the cable, it releases much easier, just a simple pull releases the trolling motor from the bracket. Where the cable attaches to the trolling motor release, there is a screw to hold it in place. I used a drop of loctite to ensure that doesn't come unscrewed from vibration. After replacing the rope type at least twice and having it break on me while fishing and wasting time trying to rig it on the water, I went to cable and have had no more issues since.

Those G force handles are pretty nice, my factory rope broke the other day, I replaced it with 550 paracord works great.

I ordered one about a month and a half ago. It's a little long but it works good

I used a cable for a while until it caused the nylon coupler on the release to break. Back to cord. May try paracord if this one fails.
