Much thanks to Floyd Yarbrough at Fun and Sun in Hurst for his help. The pointers and suggestions were well received!!! Bought the 12 ft Minn Kota Talon in Silver and Black! Took me about an hour to install it wrong the first time and about 15 minutes to install it right the second time. Works like a charm!!!!!

That looks awful on your boat....... I think that we should try it on my boat instead.. Congrats, looks like the installation turned out nice in the end.

Looks good. I have been considering a 12' also. I am trying to find the specs on the 10'-12' models but I cant find them. Someone told me that the 12' is the same height as the 8' model and the 10' is the same as the 6' model/
Does anyone know if this is true or not?

Two questions: Is 12' the longest model they offer, and does your boat freely rotate around it like a pivot point or does it seem to hold it relatively stable?

It's not my boat but i can tell you, yes and yes. One is nice to have. . .until the wind blows. If you aren't positioned perfectly with the wind at your back or braced against a stump, you spend the day fighting the pole with the trolling motor. That's why most guys get two, provided it's an option. Everyone I know that has one wishes they had two. And in the summer when it's hot and everyone is fishing offshore, they wish they had none. I don't mind them personally in my boat, but I don't fish out of the back of it either. They're definitely something most guys have a love/hate relationship with.

Man, having two would be awesome. It doesn't seem too intrusive, only hangs like a foot above the motor.
