IMO The A rig is just that a rig to hold multiple lures. It's not the same as one lure with multiple hooks. Most tournaments have or had a rule that stated (Only one rod attached to a lure maybe used at a time)Not multiple Lures. And yes I believe the double fluke rig and drop shoting with a shakey head should not be allowed either. Just my opinion but I don't lose sleep over it being allowed! I got a few in the boat.

As long as every participant is ALLOWED to fish any bait that any other participant is allowed to, I see no competitive advantage.

As long as every participant is ALLOWED to fish any bait that any other participant is allowed to, I see no competitive advantage. What Big C said. First off I have never caught a fish on an arig tried it a few times and not had any luck. So of course I think it should be outlawed along with hard jerkbaits, swim baits, swim jigs and deep diving crankbaits. Let me also throw in spinnerbaits don't throw them very often and a lot of guys do so they should be disallowed also. Yes I know some of you guys throw these lures but to be fair I don't so they should be made illegal and not allowed in tournaments. I have also heard that arigs damage more bass than other lures hmmmm, really, I have seen lots of bass swallow hooks on Texas rigs and shakey heads, that's what I throw a lot of but again outlawing these would affect me so we can't do that. Just a show of hands, how many of you guys who are adamantly opposed to throwing Arigs catch fish on them. So who's with me I think we should outlaw in tournaments anything and everything I don't catch fish on it's only fair and sporting that way.

I'll tell you why I think A-Rigs hit a cultural wall right out of the gate and BASS banned from Elites. They should have put KVD and Skeet on the payroll day 1. If they had done that, Elites wouldnt have banned and a lot less drama.
The A-Rig is no more a dummy rig that a spinnerbait, crankbait, or senko. Any dummy can throw any lure and catch fish. But a true angler becomes a expert at each technique. Breaks it down. Understands the best presentation, times, and places to throw. Ask most guys in TX and they have had little to no success throwing it. Feyette is probably best like I've found to throw it. Next to that Amistad.
But its also like another thread conversation about Falcon, fish go crazy for new baits. But they quickly get conditioned and an anger has to keep thinking outside the box and changing up to keep producing. The A-rig should not be banned from anything. This sport is about catching as many fish and enjoyment as possible. There is no magic bait. Just baits the fish haven't seen before and want to try once or twice.

The only reason the rig is banned is because of whining...because of guys who can't use it or never have. I'd like to throw in long lining under the bus as well. It's ok to make your cast, and troll all of the line off of your spool, AS LONG AS you don't engage the reel. Once out of line, stop trolling, engage the reel, crank for 5 minutes. That's completely legal. Should they ban that too? Sounds like a way to circumvent the trolling rules to me. But guess what, I don't care because everyone can do it. So its ALL fair.

Sure. . .I assume you still use a cane pole with a bone hook and oars on your flatbottom john boat that doesn't have a fish finder either, right? Give me a break with that nonsense.

I dont really care, either way. Not sure how someone could not no how to use one. It has been my experience, that if u throw it near fish, u will get bit. At least more often. To compare the arig to any other bait is just silly!!!!
