Topwater early, deep brush piles during the day. It gets tough in the summer but May may not be too bad

Ft Gibson isn't too far away and it's a great summer lake IMO. The deeper it gets, the shallower the fish get.

go to the coves across from sixshooter camp early and throw red eye shad, 7-8" worms, biffle bugs on light jig or jig/craw and hold on. great small mouth lake.

you can to up to the river too and fish any and all gravel bars for smallies.

the island just south of sixshooter is a good early morning spot for topwater, large spook in chrome or white.

grew up at sixshooter and worked at that dock for the use of a boat and minners.

good tips, thanks a lot guys, all my extended family lives at Stilwell and I am going to fish and visit on the same trip. I had heard that it was a real good smallmouth lake and I have never fished for them. I have caught a few on Amistad but never actually tried to catch smallies so I am really looking forward to this trip. thanks again

There are alot of release fish around Chicken creek ramp. Between the ramp and swim area is a ledge that will hold fish.
