Got on the water later than I wanted this afternoon but still glad to get a few hours on the water. Started out slow with a couple of bites but got better later. Finally had decent numbers with about 10 bites. Mostly slot fish and my buddy Scott whipped me in my own boat on numbers and size. He busted this fat slot to end the evening. Had a blast fishing with him and if I did not know better I would say the Fork bug has bit him.
We kept trying to force the issue and finally I decided to stop doing what I thought the fish should be doing and we fished the moment and once we made that change it made a difference. saw some beds and a cruiser or two. Water temps up to 63 in some areas.

Way to go on a tough day! It as been slow the past few days, but this happens every year this time. We have a few difficult days with no explanation. Its about to bust loose.

Yep but if I stayed home every time it blew I would never fish. We just used it to our advantage.

Saw Slade at Verona's a little while ago and he hung into a good one. Pitcure was a pretty fish. It was not a spectacular day by any means but better than it has been. Not a huge fish just a nice healthy one and great seeing someone catching it and having fun in my boat.

Nice day and fish. Scott has a tendency to make the bass he's holding look small.

Nice work, Mark! Same story here.. I took off for 3 days and planned on fishing all 3 days to get ready for Champs..

The big man upstairs had other plans and I think I ended up going about 8-10 hours total out of the 3. Wednesday was tough, but fished with a new friend and still had a blast despite the bite.. I got to go out for two hours today and finally found several willing fish pretty quick fishing the wind... At least I had a smile on my face on the drive home and a little roughness on my thumb for the week. Good luck next Saturday. cheers

Today had the makings of a reaaly solid day out here up until I managed to screw up all the bites I had. Lost some decent fish to dumb moves and laziness. Zero excuses. I fish too much to pull the idiotic junk I pulled over and over. Just seems like I cant get bout if my own way. Might be a good thing its off limits next week.

We got on the water a little late but I guess fate was the reason. We didn't get to fish much the first half of the day, so here is the story. We went up to Running creek to see if there were some fish in the back. My wife was with me so I just wanted her to be able to catch a few and felt that might be her best chance at some fish.

Well, we were in there about 45 minutes and I noticed two guys appeared to be stuck. Then I realized they were really stuck because they had gotten in the water pushing. After about 20 minutes and I'm watching from about 800 yards away, I told my wife, we need to go see if they need some help.

Long story short, they punched a stump through the hull and the boat was stuck on it. I tried to pull it off, but it wouldn't budge. I told them to start unloading all their gear and when they opened up the back compartments they were almost full of water already. So, there is a new piece of structure in Running Creek back by the island. I don't know how that boat could ever be recovered, but I know he will call his insurance and I hope they take care of him. Two older gentlemen and super nice. They didn't even want me to help in the beginning because they didn't want to mess my day up.

I can't leave someone stranded on the water like that, no way..

Anyway, I guess I got to pay it forward a little today. We only caught a few little ones later in the afternoon, nothing to speak of. Maybe with the wind blowing 30 tomorrow the bite will turn on...

This was my problem as well. But I caught a few everywhere I went so I guess I can't complain. Great report!
