But a
GREAT day on the water with el Rojo!
I know you've all heard the "Should've been here yesterday or the day before" quote................
Well, when I found these fish, they were biting off the chart! Unforunately, they were slow yesterday

We started catching fish pretty soon after we started, but they were the marginal keeper sized - 10-11"'s
I pulled into the lead until Red asked me if I was using a leader. I told him I was and that although the water here on Cypress is no longer what I would call "Clear", I had very poor results with braided line until I started using a leader. Red changed rods to one that he had a leader on and immediately started catching fish
We were slowly picking up fish, one here and one there out of 16-17 fow.
Red put a Slab Bug and caught a "Goodun" immediately

We continued working the area, picking loners up here & there
Once it had warmed up, we headed shallow to a couple of spots that I've caught good fish spawning before, but didn't get a bite, so back out to deep water we went and continued our quest to fill the box.
Here's Red again with another nice one that was fooled by the Slab Bug!

We had alot of laughs and get-to-know you better conversation, which made the day thoroughly enjoyable

We only caught 4 that had to be returned due to that issue know as "Tail to close to the eyes"

and Red caught a "Mohawk" which I didn't get a picture of
When we decided that it was time to head in, my clicker counter said 22, but once an official count was done there was 23 nice ones ready for the cleaning table......Opps, I had to disassemble my fish cleaning station to use the saw-horses for a lure curing station for Belinda

Here's another shot of Red and his 2 best ones of the day

The colors we caught fish on was Copperhead Blues, Pink Dawn (test color bait), but the most were caught on the new Electric Chicken

el Rojo, you have an open invitation for a back seat any time your in this area, which I hope is not toooo long. I hope when your eating some of those crappie while enjoying the beautiful scenery in Alaska, you remember our day on the lake
TFF has been very good to Belinda & I. We've made a lot of new friends and fishing buddies & hope to be able to continue to do so
