Try the tires by Collin Park. I would start @ 18" and move up or down from there. I did pretty good in this spot last year, but can't get my boat on/off the water this year. I have a buddy with a pontoon boat in Collin Park. I have not been out there in a while, but I am going to his slip this coming weekend.

Went to lavon yesterday was gonna try my hand at jigging some. Ended up with zero crappie and one sandy. Though I might get some tips from you'll. The water was still pretty stained and 54 degrees. Are the crappie gonna be shallow or still deep. I was figuring they'd be in about 10- 12 foot of water but like I said no bites around that deph. Should I be fishing around timber or do they prefer open water? Not wanting any specific spots or gps cordon ants just some generall advice on technique and deph, would really like to figure this jigging thing out. Thanks in advance. I have fished crappie at Rayburn for a few years now (by no means an expert), water temp 60 and up they are moving in. The best SOP is to fish North West coves, drains they warm up the soonest. Then fish the grass, edges, brush, timber on the outside depth going in. Nothing else just use a jig under a bobber and let it come in slow in 54 degrees, 60 and up road runner ticking the bottom. My time in New Mexico in colder water the jig had to move very slow, thus the bobber setup. Good luck I hope that helps.

Nada for me. Talked to a couple of folks that did Ok. Water was 59 in most places (except very shallow, where I saw 61) late in the day. My buddy got a few sandies as we were mosey-ing along in the kayaks...
Stayed till around 10, the lions were loudly welcoming spring over in Wylie. Creepy cool!

This year has really been unique with all the wide range of temps the last couple of months. If me, I would start out at 10 foot of water along structure and move shallower. You just have to find them and they will be moving this time of year. If you haven't got a hit in 10 minutes max I would move in a little shallower all the while following the structure. Move slow as it could only be a matter of half a foot to find em.
If you could find a point with brush on it that would be perfect IMHO. Slowly work that point with timber from 10 foot into the bank. On a warm day that shaller water could hit 60 degrees and the males may be into full nest building mode.
This time of year is IMHO the hardest time of year to find crappie as they are pre-spawn and moving/staging gettin ready to do their thing whilst dealin with mother nature and her moody temperature.
