I use 15 pound Invizx. If you don't want to use a fluorocarbon line, I would choose 15 pound test McCoys Mean green.

I would go with 15 to 20 pound Seaguar. My cousin broke off about 10 times with 15 pound P-line Halo on Lake O' the Pines this weekend. I was using 20 pound Inviz-x, and I didn't get broke off once. In really thick grass, I sometimes use mono on a Senko, 15 or 20 pound Big Game Trilene. My two Senko rods are a 7ft heavy action Veritas and a 7 foot medium heavy action Carrot Stick. I use 7:1 reels on both.

I prefer fluoro for weightless Senkos, usually 12 pound. I will upgrade to 15 pound if the cover requires it. You can get away with using mono too, but you might not get the depth you need. It depends on where fish are in the water column.

Seaguar Inviz-X, P-Line Soft Fluorocarbon, and Stren are good places to start.

That sounds more like knot problem than a line problem

There are several excellent fluorocarbon lines that work very well with Senko fished weightless. InvizX in 12, 15, and 20 lbs. test are the standards. I do VERY much like Sunline Shooter in 14, 16, 20, and 22 lbs. test here. Halo in 15 lbs. test has also been good.

If I'm using spinning gear then I'll use 8, 10, 12, and 15 lbs. test P-Line CX Premium. I like the Blue/Florescent. McCoy's works well too, as does Mason's Bass-On in the same line test range as the CX.

For rods, I prefer an extra-fast action. For 4 inch Senkos I prefer a light-medium power, and for 5 and 6 inch Senkos a medium power is what I normally go with. I'll goto a medium-heavy power with perhaps a fast action for 7 inch and larger Senkos.

The rods that I use most often are St. Croixs* rated: 69MLXF, 68MXF, and 80MXF. Respectively to the three ratings: I have a AC69MLXF, & TBC69MLXF, and an ECMXF & an ESMXF, and an AVC80MXF. I also have a modified Gary Yamamoto Tournament Rod SSM2701MF which is rated for 612 lbs. test line, and 1/8th to 3/8ths ounce lures. It was originally an even 7 feet long, but I had the butt shortened by 3 inches.

* A word of caution here. St. Croix rods have power ratings, what St. Croix refers to as Rod Power, that are low compared to other manufactures. A St.Croix that is rated as a medium-heavy (MH) is going to often be more like a heavy power (H) rating, and the same holds for the other power ratings. The thing to do here is just up the power rating by one increment with St. Croix rods. See Chart Below

______________________________

St. Croix info, FWIW:

Example: AVC80MXF =

The first letter/s is the rod series,

the letter next to the number designates the rod type; C for Casting,S for Spinning, F for Fly, and I for Ice,

the number/s on a model number always designates the length of the rod with the first >numeral< being in feet, and the second, and (if any) third in inches (This length designation scheme holds for all of their rods under 10 feet in length.),

the last three to four letters designate respectively the rod power and the rod action as per the chart just below.

Older Avid Series rods are designated with an A, and the new Avid Series are designated with an AV. The old Legend Elite Series is designated with just an E, whereas the newer Legend Elite Series are designated with an LE. The Legend Tournament Series of rods get kinda of confusing. Anything with an X as the first letter is going to be a Legend Xtreme Series rod.

I use 50 lb braid with a 5-7 ft leader of 10, 12, 15, 17, or 20 fluoro depending on the cover. I'll sometimes change the leader size a couple three times in a day. 15 and 17 most often. A nail weighted 6 inch senko skipped into a tree, some thick pad stems or way up into a gnarly old dilapidated dock is how I've caught a lot of my better fish so if you're using the same 10-12 pound test you were using earlier in the day for open water near a grass line you're you're gonna get your heart broke.
