Went to lavon yesterday was gonna try my hand at jigging some. Ended up with zero crappie and one sandy. Though I might get some tips from you'll. The water was still pretty stained and 54 degrees. Are the crappie gonna be shallow or still deep. I was figuring they'd be in about 10- 12 foot of water but like I said no bites around that deph. Should I be fishing around timber or do they prefer open water? Not wanting any specific spots or gps cordon ants just some generall advice on technique and deph, would really like to figure this jigging thing out. Thanks in advance.

Just north of the power plant in that big arm that runs to 78. Figured with all the timber and cover it would've been good. May try more towards the damn today. Just wondered if I was fishing to shallow.

I fished the timber outside brockdale yesterday, skunked, but I never said I was good at catching crappie. There's gotta be some kind of learning curve, right?

I would think too deep for this time of year and 54 degree water. They are gonna be staging shallower as the spawn nears.

Haha exactly my thoughts. I've fished lavon with minnows the past couple of years and done well. With the water being so low I figure their probably all in one spot balled up. If I could just find that one spot. Lol

So u think like 3 ft of water for the temp and this time o year big Dave? Would you concentrate strictly on cover with a jig or just pick a shallow shoreline and work your way slowly down it.

Lavon is very tough the end of last year and this year. Don't know why. Lot of reports and nobody really catching. Several friends have tried last week and were skunked also. However, Lake Fork had 10 stringers over 15 pounds last weekend. I don't get it. Most folks are just trying different lakes. Not the news you wanted to hear, I know... Good luck to ya.

Were you using a graph or just working blind? I'll probably be out in a kayak later this afternoon.

I was working blind out of a kayak. No graph. Where did you put in, Collin? I'm fishing the east arm, launching at the power plant.
