I have heard of people fishing Rowlett Creek and wanted to see if anyone has fished this in a kayak? I was thinking about hitting it up this weekend but dont know how to access it?

I drove over it on Miller Road yesterday evening and saw several cars and people bank fishing but the banks looked a little steep to get a kayak in? Has anyone ever put in here or do you know of a better spot to put in?

Thanks for any advice!

Last I heard Carey Thorn said there wasn't enough water at the mouth for the fish to move up.

I wonder where that would leave them holding at? The Rowlett Road bridge maybe or would they need deeper water?

You cant even get to the Rowlett Road bridge in a boat anymore. There are parts that are even too shallow for a kayak. Pretty sad really.

I've paddled Rowlett Creek from Miller up to the log jam. If it's spring spawing, I would not paddle up that way. There are just mobs of people lined up along the banks, and at some points it gets very narrow. I bank fished it all last march, but this year it's looking very bleak.

I know very little about hubbard. But as I understand it tho white bass are prone to return to spawning ground where they were hatched, they can spawn in any shallow water with good movement and structure for the eggs to attach to. So like a shallow point that always catches good wind for example.

The creek is running pretty good after the rain. Not sure if fish went up it though.

John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

ive used my kayak the last couple of years during the run and been all up and down from bike park to the mouth. I put in on miller. its steep but do-able. I like fishing from the bank but you can get to some nice spots in a yak that you can get to on foot.

There isn't enough water in the lake for the fish to swim into Rowlett creek. There is at least 1/2 mile of mostly mud from the bridge on Rowlett Rd. to the mouth of the creek. There isn't enough water for a 10" white bass to swim.

Thanks guys... That is kind of what I was thinking too Bass Art but thought I would ask since I saw a lot of people parked and fishing the creek.

If they are trying to get back to the creek though that would mean they are probably "stuck" somewhere between the George Bush bridge and the Rowlett Road bridge, right?

I'm from East, TX (in case my name didnt give it away) and always fished the Neches during the white bass run growing up. It's so much fun to go out and catch a huge number of fish so I'd love to go out and try it somewhere around here.
