He caught this one today, his biggest so far. Almost had a bass, but it jumped and spit it out. Finally got him into some bigger fish, other than the usual local park ponds with 7" cats, and 3" bluegill. This one was about 9" or so. I can't wait to see him hook something more than 2 pounds.

Thats a great blue gill !!! Im 30 and havent caught one that big !! lol. Were did you catch it ? Tell your son congrats, but he may be ruined for blue gill after that monster !! Did he taste good ??

That is a monster!!! Where were you fishing. My son loves to catch 'gills, I have taken him out a couple trips and put him on some drums and it's a blast to see him fight. Congratulations to your son and keep him hooked on fishing.

That is one of the biggest Bluegill that I have ever seen! Congrats to your son!! Way to go!!!

Thanks for all the comments, of course the camera angle makes it "look" really big, like the length of his leg! I should have weighed or at least measured it. I need to check with the owners and see about others coming along sometime. Due to the land area, there is expensive machinery, cattle and other reasons they might not go for it. I'll see.

Nice fish! I have caught some big bluegill that still look small in the camera. That is truly a monster.
