Hitting the water Saturday. At this time of year and through the rest of the spring I have never found it to be super important to get to the lake real early. I usually get there abut 9 in the morning. Is there an advantage to getting there as the sun comes up. I ask this because I notice on Honeyhole, Bill always is on the water right at first light. Anytime of year.

I will be on a lake about 300 acres so I defenently expect the fish to be on beds if that makes any difference. Got to thinking that if they are bedding and you get there early, they wont have had much pressure. Don't know if there is any truth to that.

Thanks.

IMO, this time of year there is no reason to get there @ sunrise, unless you are prefishing for a tournament. The water is still at the temperature that requires a few hours of sun to warm. Fish being cold blooded animals require heat to be active. Giving the sun a few extra hours should be beneficial.

I say that all the time in the spring, no reason to get there at the crack of dawn, so I take my time, eat some breakfast, read some news, head to the lake and have a lure in the water before safe light. LOL I just can't help it. Good luck this weekend.

The early bird gets the worm. Not all the fish will be on beds. There will be some deep water fish just moving up to stage. If you can find them early you can whack them on spinner baits and crank baits.

I go early and just stay off the bedding fish for a few hours looking for roamers getting ready. The 5 to 10 ft. bass should be very active.

If you don't fish tournaments, learning bass behavior at 1st light is probably unimportant.....the opposite is true if you do.

I always get on the water very early because I love time on the water and watching the sunrise while casting is fantastic for me.

I like being on a spot first thing in the morning, neat things happen at first light.

Thanks guys. No tourney just fun fishing.I will give the early bite a try. I have told people that in this time of year to wait a couple hours. Didn't know if I was missing something. Looks like mixed responses.

I don't care when it is, I get there before sun-up. The big fish move more during low light times more than any other. It's largely why they get so big.
