I would fish the creeks from the bank if they have water in them for crappie. I can't help you on catfish.

Guys,
I am planning to go to Ray Roberts this weekend for the first time and need some help. I will be fishing from shore so need advise on locations since I have never been there before and do not have a boat. I would like to catch some crappies and catfish. Thank you in advance for any help!!! Don't count on being all that productive on catfish. A few of my buddies and myself went out night fishing last Friday, anything worth catching has not moved up yet into the shallower water to feed. So unless you can find a spot from the bank were you can get your line off into the channel drops of the creek beds, your looking at little dinks giving you hell. The lake is so low right now that getting into the channels is hard. Good luck man!!

Hey Ranger you should check out the RR marina or the State Park Isle Du Bois. The marina has a good set up. There's a lot of barge to fish around on and you get entered in a contest once you pay your entry. The contest is for biggest crappie. It runs from mid March to mid May. Isle du Bois has a nice pier. You can pitch jigs near the rocks going up towards the pier or set up on minnows. The state park has restrooms and cleaning station. Good Luck. Tight lines

I'd write off Buck Creek. I was there earlier this week and marked only 10 fish in about an hour. It was so back I pulled the boat and went up to Texoma. Water temp was 55, but the water was about 10 feet low.
Our water temps per the Texas parks and Wildlife site are about a month behind where they were last year. This super cold winter has really set everything back about 3-4 weeks. I should be seeing spring green right now along Rowlett creek but all I see is Elm's budding. You have to get very close to see a few red buds blooming and Cottonwood leaves starting.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

Pear tree are blooming. Some got caught by the last cold snap. It is funny how folks aways confuse pears for dogwoods.
