Want to go hit up a sandbass run in the kayak so the plan is the Brazos above Whitney. First off, is that a good place to go, and will there be fish? Also I would like to make this an open invite. I plan to put in Sat morning somewhere near hwy 174 either Kimball bend park or Nolan River park. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

The water is so low in Whitney that the Kimball Bend boat ramp is closed. You can't get anywhere near it. They might let you park at the gate which is on the upriver side, but it is over 100 yards to water from there. Although it is a fairly flat haul. You'll have to do some talking at the gate to even get that much access. They won't let you park in a campsite unless you want to pay a camping fee. I would suggest Ham Creek. "Ain't never been there but they tell me it is nice." And good fishing is close by.
RealBigReel I don't go too fast but I go pretty far.

I was looking at Chisholm Trail campgrounds as a launch site. Lots of beach access and parking close to the water. The entrance is off 174 near the store.

Hams Creek is your best bet. Just be sure to take a cart....

That's what I'm trying to find out. However I am very tempted to go fish the tourney in Austin this weekend instead.

How was it? I just moved to Austin.. Any tips on where I can go fish for Whites or Hybrids? The only place I have found so far is San Gabriel river but that's a 45 min drive from where I am and only Whites.
