Been curious about the Scatter Rap since before its availability. Finally bought a couple and caught my first fist on one this evening. Anyone out there have experience with the Scatter Rap, outside reading about it in a magazine ad?

I tested a plastic protype several years ago. Great side to side wide wobble and a good fish catching machine. Got a couple a couple of months ago from the same place that I got the protype from. Haven't caught anything on them yet, but only fishing once a month, that is my lack of use. Hope this helps.

Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Yup, complete trash. The single worst Rapala lure ever made IMO. And I'm a Rapala fan.

I hate that bait. Junk. I did a review on them a while back. They all broke before they caugh a fish and I love shallow cranking and cranking in general. Tried all sorts of differnt retrieves and scenarios. Threw them when I was catching them on a squarebill and around all sorts of differnt structure.

From what I noticed throwing it, its very light so i reverted to throwing it with my spinning gear. With the spinning rod, i still feel the bait like my crank rod. What i noticed was it cranked best using a ultra slow retrieve. Retrieving that slow takes some self disipline. I also noticed that once it tracks to one side, the best way to get it to track the opposite direction was to pause, but when you retrieve again, there it only a 50/50 chance it will track to the opposite direction. I think im going to use mine a just below the surface wounded fish. I dont like the feel of its water treading. Seems too loose. Still trying to figure it out.

Some cheap crud. I'm pretty much done with rapala I have destroyed more of their cranks than any other brand. I'm sure the ones that run good are ok baits.

Junk. Academy is stocking it over the DT6 which is like stocking Tofu over Piazza.

One of the biggest problems I have had is that it corkscrews once casted and twists your line up. It is erratic though.

It makes me laugh when people say castings a problem. It's not, the baits the problem. I don't know the exact yardage but I can get the thing a pretty good ways out there on a 6'10" med action casting rod with 12lb mono. I fish a kvd 1.0 a lot and got the scatter rap just as far If not further. The action is good if you can get them to run true and not break.

I personally love my scatter raps! I personally have not caught anything under 18" on mine so far. You HAVE to real it VERY SLOW it is not like a traditional crank. If you reel it too fast it doesnt run right. I have also yet to break mine so Im not sure why you guys are having that problem either. Ill take all your old ones if you guys don't want them anymore!

I've been fishing Scatter Raps for a couple of years now and haven't broken one. But then again I don't slap them on the water to get weeds off them either. I've caught a good number of fish on them and I'm anxious to try the new deep Scatter Raps. The only issue I've had with them is if you try and burn the bait it will roll but other than that a good bait with a very unique action.

Don't fish them around rocks or the bill breaks off
