Fished up Luces Bayou yesterday, launched at Ponderosa marina and went north, caught two little dinks, fished shallow, outside edge of brush, square bills, spinnerbaits, texas rig.......NADA! Are there any fish in this lake? Have been a few times, but struggling catching a fish here, any helpful hints are appreciated. I suspect South from Ponderosa is a little more productive, I made a quick run down there, and it at least looked like there may be fish there? Guess that is where I will try next? Not looking for spots, just a little confidence the lake has a bass over 14".

Did anyone else fish there over the weekend?

It's been taking over 20lbs to win a tourney there so yeah there are some fish in the lake.

Sounds like you were doing the right things, the fish move ALOT on that lake so just keep covering water and you'll find some good fish eventually.

I think a 7 has taken big bass most tourneys this year, haven't followed it as much as usual this year though.
Haven't been on the water since January

I guess someone is catching them then, those are some strong stringers right there.....for any lake! I hear that most people run to Luces, I guess I am in the wrong part of it.

Look for the clearest water you can find......that's always a good ticket....

Depends, sometimes I find them as far up it as a boat can go, sometimes at the mouth and all inbetween.

Typically this time of year the north end is ok but once it gets hot the further south in luces the fish tend to migrate. For me anyways.

I've lived on this lake for along time, sometimes I cash checks sometimes I bring in one fish. It can be tough.

Any luck on Luces lately? Any tips would be welcome - heading there this weekend for the first time.
