I've never liked loops, and I've tried them several times. The only loop I use is at the fly. I use nail knots and coat them with Clear Cure Goo to help them through the guides. I also use nail knots with CCG covering them as I taper down the leader; they tend to pick up less floating grass. Generally my leaders are all nail knots down to the tippet; I usually attach the tippet with a double or triple surgeon's knot. A lot of folks think it's too much trouble to do it this way, but old habits die hard........

I love loops, heck I even make leaders using different size mono with loops on each end of the sections. I can make up any kind of leader recipe in a hurry.
