That's a heck of a fish. I would love to hear the story about how it was caught.

checked the post again and wow. thanks for all the kind words, everybody, from me and Rob both. it was definitely a memorable 2 days, in more ways than one. grainraiser, basically, I was paying attention to the arrow on the T/M not watching the rod tip(amazing what you can miss looking away for 2 seconds)and probably moving around too much to feel the bite, and I can't really remember what rob actually said to get my attention. so, its at least half his fish and probably more because he grabbed the net and did that part as well. all I did was raise my rod, weigh the fish, and put her in the livewell. kirk, she only measured 16-3/8". I've caught plenty of 16" fish that barely weighed 2#. I bet in june she'd only weigh 2.25. slick Willie, I bet they'll still be there, if not more. I'll let you know at the weigh-in.
thanks again, everybody.

I am guessing youre not going to get your motor fixed by this weekend and stay on the same pattern, right? Just kidding.
I hope the repair is minor.

I hope the repair is minor. right! thats the 2nd best part of the weekend. it's a $125 part that I can change myself. the low oil alarm has a float with a magnet on it that tells the sending unit if the oil is low. the magnet apparently fell off the float, telling the alarm that there wasn't any oil being injected. at least the motor has new thermostats now and I won't have to worry about that for awhile. the truth is, the motor issue was a Godsend. if we could have ran the lake, we would have left that cove and we wouldn't have caught near what we did. I'm sure of it.
