Recently got a few 100 lures, with probably double that in soft baits (open but look good still?), and 2 tackle boxes, from a garage sale for $75... good deal right?

Next thing on the list is to get a 2+ person boat, and all the things needed for it, to drive it etc.

Well, lets look more at the cheap end, starting end, electric.

How much can a simple 2-4 person boat cost? then a trailer to haul that (very doubtful, it will fit in pickup bed XD)

I was also thinking single person kayaks might be a cheaper route?

The main thing I want to know is price, and upkeep?

Welcome to the dark and bottomless hole of boats. There's no correct answer because there's no limit to what you can spend. Start used then you won't be so upside down a year from now when you figure out what you really wanted.

Depends on who made them and how old on lures are
Go look at eBay if there old lures some worth alot of money and new quality ones aren't cheap hard tell if you got a good deal no one here can say we can't see them.

Pat is right boats are a bottomless money pit end of story.

Bust.
Out.
Another
Thousand.

Any boat with a trailer start easily at a grand.
It's hard say if kayak be good for you.
You fish lakes are rivers and creeks?

If you live close lake ray hubbard there's a park off miller road you can rent one try them out on the weekends.

A boat with a motor will be more expensive. Even a trolling motor, because you have to have it registered and get TX#'s for the side of the boat.

If you choose to use oars to row a boat, or pedals (like a paddle boat)or even a kayak, you can get on and off the water cheaper and easier. I say easier because there are a few lakes that you can't use any ramps right now. You can launch a kayak from anywhere you can carry it.

Hope that this is what you are looking for.

I know some lures where Rapalas and one of these, Ghost Lure
I think he said me had a bunch of these kind of scorpion things made, with a brush guard... I'll try to post pics later

Dang, didnt think starting out in boating could be THAT much.

Ive only ever fished in a boat once, and that was long time ago and went with a friend and his step-dad,
other then that I've been stuck on the docks n land, and that hasn't been going well on Lake Pflugerville (10 min drive about)

Get on craigslist and snag you a cheap kayak. No titles, no registration, just go get after it. If you yearn for more, you're not out of anything you can't resell easy, and you'll know what you want when it's time to get down to business.

Did pretty much what you are talking about a year or so ago and working great. Have pretty much come full circle with boating, long story but anyway,,,, wanted to be back on water with my girlfriend.

2 man bass buggy type from wmart $550 Much better for us than going the kayak route

45 lb troll motor can be had for just under $200

went ahead and got a utility trailer from tractor supply ( boat does fit in p/u but a pain for us )
much happier with the little 5x8 trailer and works great $699 on sale

group 27/29 battery $79-99

life jackets

kayak type anchor $30

tx registration ( required for any motorized boat ) ya'll remember the old 9.9 rule!

trailer tags

emergency paddles

also upgraded the hard plastic seats that come with the boat to padded seats. can be had at walmart about $65 for 2 ( I spend as much as 7-8 hrs in that little boat)

This is pretty much minimum cept for maybe the trailer. Now start adding all the fishing goodies.
And having a total blast with this thing!!
