I may pass on the weekend crowd this weekend. I'll hit it again next week. Good thing about arriving at 8pm is th fact I get a parking spot right next to the steps. No elbow fishing at any place I fish. I pretty much have the entire river to myself. Lets see what Mothernatur throws at us this weekend. Maybe some much needed rain.

Fishy if your fishing at 8 pm, what type of lures are you using after dark (crankbaits, minnows) and like the statement above are you using some sort of light?

Lights scare whites away when fishing shallow in creeks and rivers during the spawn. Even a light on your head should not be directed towards the water. When you need to use your light, turn towards the woods to tie on a new bait or to fix your line. I throw nothing but 1/32oz. jigs. Been throwing these for the past 40 years.

Dang! I'm missing out.

My wife is having medical issues. Can't take her fishing yet. I won't go without her. I'm blessed that she loves fishing more than me.

I love the reports. I'll share them with her. We wish everyone...

Tight lines!

Shut up and fish!

Tough out there this evening, saw a few folks with a few small fish, most weren't catching anything. I caught 8-10 from 430 to 8.

My therapist says she's happy I flyfish for the meditative qualities. Little does she know it's the cause of my PTSD.

Sounds like what I do in KS fishing for walleye at night. We wade at the dam and use a head light but shine it up toward the dam when necessary. Only differnce is we use crankbaits as they will outfish jigs at night. Haven't tried whitebass at night but may have to give it a go. Catch a few whitebass before daylight on the river but not nearly as much as after daylight.

Here's the deal. The water in the area I catch fish at night is no more than three feet deep at the deepest spot. These fish will stage on sand bars and in depressions along the bottom waiting on bait fish to drift across. Any light what so ever will delay the bite. It doesn't seem to spook the fish away, but they won't bite. Long term lighting such as a coleman lantern will definitely drive them away. The more you can keep it natural, the better the results. I have seen people put a coleman lantern way back on the shoreline and catch a few, but still, the best policy is to keep it as close to natural as you can. I will not fish around someone with a light. I find it to be a waste of my time. And if someone approaches the area I'm catching fish with a light, I leave.

i was going to try some green lights. But i read some where that they dont like lights. Because they are mostly in the deep in the main lake. When the sun comes out the try to go into the shade areas.

i was going to copy this setup . but around 10ft.

I have caught lots of whites under lights, would not hurt to try it, just because one person says it does not work for him does not mean it wont work. Never hurts to try something different.
