Quantum KVD Tour signature series spinning rod marked from $139.00 to $75.00!
Legitimate mark down, or just marketing?! Also, any experience with the rod??

Thanks for the help guys!

My advice is don't buy a combo. Especially from wal-mart where every person has probably picked it up spun the reel and then grabbed the rod tip bent it and threw it back on the shelf.

And what does a rod/reel do when you're using it? I guess I should get rid of all of mine cuz each of them have been spun, tip bent and then thrown back down in some form or fashion.

I didn't buy it. They have about another 20 all on the clearance rack so if I change my mind I'll just go back. I do however need something new to play with the sandies on there run though... confused

Maybe you should . Then maybe you should take some midol.

Fishing stress and some idiot bending a rod with their hands are totally differnt things. Combos off a shelf are usually a sacrafice in either the rod or reel area. He asked for advice so I gave mine . You gave none just made a snide remark about my post. Also why would you throw your own rods? I take care of my equipment but maybe that's just me.

Yeah i don't buy combos myself. I piece everything together to know that I'm getting the most for my money. It was just the rod, nothing more. But hey, a deals a deal of you find them! Lol as I said, I need something new to play with, and a new rod always calls for a new reel!!! rolfmao

Sounds like a pretty fair deal. Just depends how bad you need a ROD & REEL.
You got some good advice on here, bottom line...use your own judgement

I can't bring myself to by rods at walmart, for the same reason Ban-D was saying. They get really abused. Not just by customers but by staff. Just go to the Lew store and look at the endcap full of clearance rods. . .its a clusterbang or stuff scraping each other and the handles get struck by shopping carts constantly. No thanks.

I don't know if it is still this way but reels used to be made especially for walmart and the quality was not what the normal reels were.

I think he was saying rod only, not a combo. My nearest Wally World had a KVD casting rod marked down $40 or so. I wasn't that impressed with it. Seemed heavy.

Anytime you buy something off of the shelf at a big retail store there is no telling how many people have had their hands on it. You have to check it over carefully and then decide. I've bought duds from BP and Cabela's too. Is the deal worth it?

Its going to feel heavy, is a glass rod....the rod is the same no matter where you buy it. I bought a Yellow Crankbait rod from Wally World for $50 that sold for three times that at Academy and BPS....I love it...great rod...

I apologize. My comment was made with humor but by lacking a "LOL" or a smiley face it sounded like a jacka$$.
