 Trolling motor issue

I just bought my new Trolling motor and installed it. I purchased a MinnKota Edge 70. The issue is, when I try and stow it , the shaft is in a little bit of a bind when locked into position. Is this normal? I have to adjust depth setting all the way up and it is still in a bind, have been through out the range with it to the same outcome. Any suggestions?

It's designed that way to put down pressure to keep it from popping up and actually the down pressure makes it easier to deploy when you pull the handle.
