Okay, perhaps I should have wrote, 'the general public does not have access to fish private waters stocked with fish taken from public waters.'

He can have my limit today to stock his pond. Holy s*** guys the crappie need to start biting soon...

Call Texas Parks and Wildlife if you want to know for sure if it's legal or not.

Grew up with several stock tanks we fished. We had tanks without stunted crappie in ponds much smaller than the experts recommend or say is possibl...so it can be done. We started keeping them around 8 inches and the best tank for crappie had channels to 12 pounds at least, bluegill, and shiners. Not saying this is best or always works but it did in this tank.

Good luck.

Can someone explain how the Feds count recreational Red Snapper catch?

exactly. if a man wants to fish he:
buys boat, pays taxes on boat
pays for registering boat
pays taxes on gas he puts in the boat
pays taxes on all equipment bought to catch fish
buys license(who knows where that money goes)

what that man does with the fish he catches is his business. he can grind'em up and fertilize his garden for all I care. once they're in your live well, you own them.

To improve minnow population nail some styrofoam to pieces of plywood (2'x3 or 4' ) long. Place wood down in shallow end in weeds if possible to keep it in place or tie it off. The minnows will attach their eggs to the bottom of the wood.Really need the weeds to keep larger fish away and give the little ones some cover. We did this on our ponds for years and it works.

Pretty sure that means you cant stock your private pond or use them as fertilizer.

Once they are in your live well the state bases its law that your plan is for consumption of the fish, not for using them as fertilizer or to start your own breeding program in a private pond or lake.

As my granddad told me many years ago while going over our limit. I asked, "Pops, is it legal to have this many fish"? He said, " Boy, ain't nothing illegal if you don't get caught". He was an outlaw. He used to start deer hunting two weeks before deer season. His reasoning was when deer season started the deer got skittish. Caught many a fish with that old man, god rest his soul. He's probably breaking the law somewhere in heaven as he found Jesus late in his life.

Here is what a simple GOOGLE provided via the TPWD website.

Can I catch fish in public water and take them home to stock my pond?

Fish that are legally harvested from public water may be stocked in a private pond. Legally harvested fish are caught by someone who holds the required fishing license, observing all applicable length limits, daily bag limits, and gear restrictions. For more information on licenses and regulations, see the Texas Outdoor Annual.

Nor does the general public have access to his stomach as he eats them. rolfmao

If anything he is saving taxpayer money as he will not be fishing in taxpayer lakes once his pond is productive. fish

P.S. Can I come fish it when it's ready. We can call it Pond X and keep the location secret while bragging about all the huge crappie we are catching from it. rolfmao
