So, This is my first post and I have questions for anyone who might know the answers. First, why is it that I can not seem to find fishing reports for Lake Mathis on the Texas Parks and wildlife site. Every other lake in Texas is on there except Lake Mathis. I have also searched for Lake Corpus Christi with no luck. Second: I am planning a trip to lake Mathis next week and am wondering if there is any good activity there. Since I've never fished it before, is there any "hot spots" or areas of the lake I should concentrate on? I think we will be concentrating on Crappie and Catfish this time around. Thanks!

Not sure why there are no reports on TP&W site, but the lake has been so low for the last 3-4 years there have not even been any boat ramps open. Have not heard of any one fishing it for quite a while.

Thanks for your response. The Lake did fill up and is about 2' low right now. I'll give it a try and see what happens.

I have heard great reports of people catching crappie about ready to spawn. It should be on fire late next week with the full moon coming. Focus in the backs of coves and creeks with rock. I have not fished the lake in 4 years but used to live there and would absolutely tear them up the three days before the march full moon in 1-3 feet of water with jigs or minnows 12" under a float.

I live on this lake and recently ordered a boat. I'll post a report when I get to go out and fish. As of now no luck off pier even under lights. Boat should be here within 2 weeks.

George, they may be in spawn down there. If so, fish shallow right at the bank.
