I fished the Oakley Bass tourney at Lake Conroe this weekend and couldn't figure it out. I caught one each day. With the water temp hovering around 54, where should I have mainly concentrated on? I tried deep (14-18), (10-6), and pitched at the bank. I also threw chatterbait, swimjig, trap, plastics, spinners, jerk baits, etc etc. Also, all jokes aside, anyone get jerk bait wrist. Mine is killing me today.

I'm not asking a specific area or location, just how deep being the temp was at 54. That was my first time at Conroe. Any general info is greatly appreciated. I'm just trying to improve.

I get jerk bait wrist also, but mostly when I'm home alone.

Never fished Conroe before, but what plastics did you try and maybe what color?

Maybe that's also part of the problem. If I don't get a bite in about 20 minutes, I'll try something different. Am I just not patient enough or is that more the norm?

We didn't cash a check, but we caught ours in 20 or so deep and b a r e l e y moved the bait (jigs,E2 craws) and most time you couldn't even feel them pick it up. The rod would just load when you went to crawl it a little and we'd set the hook on them.. It was god awful slow fishing for us for sure...

You know what sux, the ONLY fish I caught Sunday, was maybe 1 1/2 lbs, I caught it 20 minutes of the first hour. I figured no way would that fish make it. Considering I was about 7 miles from the weigh in, I threw it back. Unfortunately, only 5 fish weighed in. I threw back a $150 fish. Oh well.

Tough fishing with the cool down. Tends to group them up in certain areas while others just won't bite. Lots of good local sticks who fished and didn't cash a check.
