I posted a little while ago that I was going camping out at Fort Parker. That's been nixed (no campsites. Womp, womp...) and we are now headed to Lake Whitney SP in two weeks. I've searched the forum and found a ton of posts about the Brazos below the lake but not much on the lake itself. I'd love to get into some striper if I can. Anybody have any tips for kayak fishing the lake from the SP or striper fishing in general? How is the activity on the lake during weekends?
Fish eat things. I'll put things in the water that fish like to eat. I'll attach these things to a hook, line, rod, and reel. How hard can this be?

No campsites at Fort Parker, or none available? There used to be a ton of them...

No primitives available. Screen shelters still but we just decided to look elsewhere. Figured if all the primitives are booked, it'll be too crowded. We checked and it looked like the primitives are booked straight through June every weekend. Wonder why it got so popular... It was a cool park but nothing outstanding.

I fished it this summer. The ramp was closed but the ranger let us move the barrier and launch anyway. I fished for striper but I can't tell you anything about catching Whitney striper.....I wish I could. This was during a weekday and I think we saw one boat over half-day of fishing.

I imagine it will be tough finding stripers in the lake from a kayak.... it's been tough there. Hope you do find some though.

I'm getting there Thursday night so I'll probably keep the kayak in the truck and hit some where around the lake on Friday and then try the main lake Saturday morning. How mirage drive friendly are things below the damn?

Thanks again to the guy in a kayak on lake Whitney who helped me push my boat off the gravel bar up the Nolan Saturday.

You are better off paddling. It could be worth your efforts though....

Had to bump Whitney SP, beautiful place to camp. We are new yakkers and want hit the creeks for catfish some day; the bad thing about up there its pretty windy all the time. I did hear the fish are getting active above Chisolm Trail, and we like the Nolan also.
