What was speed limit and was there any load in the truck?

I would be very disappointed in 17.3 all empty HWY. You running gas or E85?

I haven't pulled anything with mine yet but I have been getting 20.5 mpg highway empty. Its 4x4 with factory 22" wheels so I thought that was pretty good.

What kind of 4x4 has lo-pro 22" wheels? I don't understand that move. Ford did the same thing with the Limited.

I do not understand anything larger than 18 on a 4x4. I want rubber between my truck and the rocks not metal. 22" wheels on a 4x4 = street truck and in the south why waste the money. I am concerned with this trend and figure next time I buy I will be headed straight to the tire shop. I have never been successful getting a dealer to even do a tire swap at a reasonable price. I wonder if the trcuk getting 17 mpg was broke in. Toyotas will steadly improve until they get to about 10k.

Alot of the new High Country and Denali packages have 22" wheels. I realize they are not for everyone but honestly I haven't seen a downside to them yet, they aren't that low profile and they are an all terrain tire. The ride is still really good as well. Rides a heck of alot better than my 08 that had 35" tires on it. And I can assure you guys I don't use it only as a street truck. It will go anywhere one with stock height 18's will go just as well.

Truck has 6000 miles on it. I was driving 70mph empty truck with a bed cover on it with reg. gas..17.5 gas mileage with cruise control on....Only thing I have done is had the dealership put a 2.5 level kit on it....I had a 2013 Duramax and drove 75 in ar. and 80 in tx and got 19.3 mpg round trip....Also the 2014 only has a gas range of about 325 miles small gas tank....The 2013 hab a fuel range of about 500 miles but the fuel tank was bigger....Not a Happy Camper...

The downside is when you have to pay to replace them, plus I don't like the looks of them.

I bet that 2.5" level kit hurt your MPGs. I would like to see some test data on before and after on lift kits.

Just bought a 2014 Silverado Z-71 4x4, Has 20" wheels with TOYO AT II tires, no leveling kit, 3:42 rear. Just made a 220 mile trip from East Texas to Austin with many small towns in between so i had many red lights with stop and go.

Truck got 18.75 mpg at the pump, not on the computer. Driving the truck with the cruise set on 68 most of the time. This truck has 700 miles on it after the trip so it is new. Sticker says 22 highway mpg, I don't think it will ever get 22 mpg at 70 mph.

I came from a 12 Duramax Z71 4x4 so comparing power would not be fair. Yes the Duramax would get 19-20 on the highway if there was no regeneration of the DPF figured in, with regen the mileage would drop to 17.5 on the hwy. When I factored in the cost of diesel, diesel piss, higher oil change cost, higher fuel filter cost it just didn't make sense to run up and down the highway and pull the boat on weekends with it. Not to mention the payment on my truck went down $200

I love the look of the new truck, it is quiet as hell, rides better than most cars and pulls my Z520 pretty good. Time will tell on the fuel mileage. I haven't made a long trip with the boat yet to see what mpg's are.

I would suspect that changing to taller tires/leveling kit will affect the mpg's as the aerodynamics are changed. The MPG's listed on just about any vehicle today are tested by the EPA and they are not driving at the typical highway speeds 70-80 that we normally drive at so I would not plan on getting actual mpg's stated on window sticker.

Maybe she will loosen up and get a little better when she gets broken in.

18.8 is real good on a brand new one. Toyotas usually see a 3 MPG or better improvement after break in. Do you have the 5.3 that shuts off half the cylinders? I was strongly considering a Chevy or GMC last year but the cylinder de-activation scared me away. After being a not so proud owner of a 5.4 I am a little gun shy.

it has the cylinder deactivation, you don't even know it is there except for the little light in the information center. The deactivation normally occurred going downhill or when I was on flat ground with no real load on the engine. I pulled my boat to a lake that was 15 miles from home and the little 5.3 did a good job.

I have a brother in law that works at the Chevy dealership if I do have any issues.
