Gosh man that's a fun scenario there! They have been in our small lake for years and years I have gotten over them several times by pure accident and had a blast drop a line and wham! found them twice this winter while looking for crappie. I have looked for them over and over in the past with no luck and like you wish I was better at finding them. Back in the day when our power plant operated all winter that's where they would be with the shad.

That sir is a problem we all would like to have. On my home lake Hybrids, are especially elusive when there is too much forage bait. The boats we fish out of have good electronics and are dialed in, therefore allowing us to locate them, but to catch Hybrids all day in one spot, man that is a treasure. BTW how far from W'ford TX is lake Conroe. Great looking fish thanks for the thread !!

Conroe is about 60 miles NNW of Houston. So I will let you take it from there.

That is very strange as most so called experts say Hybrids spend there lives chasing bait fish and are almost constantly on the move. This is consistent with most hybrid fishermen's catch pattern of catching few and then having to move because the Hybrids have moved.
I have never been lucky enough to catch them like that.

Thats how it was for me Eastexn would find them by accident graph screen would be loaded catch them for anywhere from 1-20 min. then there gone and blank screen. Would always make me think of that hook one with a float and let him go thing lol found them under an old bridge once while crappie fishing they was there long enough for me to hook 4 then never seen them again. Funny thing on my small lake is Ive seen sandbass bustin shad on the top many many times but have never caught the hybrids doing it in my 30 years fishing it.

Yes sir!! It seems really strange to me too that the fish would stick around that long.I had a friend in his boat fishing with me side by side and were there most half the day hammering them too.He too were puzzle.I fished for six hours straight pulling fish after fish, even caught double on a double rigged.I guess It can happen if it has'nt happened.

Only time I ever caught them one spot all day was years ago in the late winter early spring on lake Graham with the power plant discharge warm water holding the bait and hybrids in one spot. That was great at least a 100 fish on top waters. Never been on them in one spot like you did....heck I have a hard time finding whites that won't require at least some repositioning.
Can someone explain how the Feds count recreational Red Snapper catch?

I will say that some spots will produce more consistently than others, but it is rare that they would stay in one spot all day. You hit it just right. As far as trophy sized hybrids go, it probably depends on what part of the country you are in. My buddy caught this 14.4 lb hybrid two days ago from the Ohio River. Now that's a trophy!

That is as big as I've ever seen. Congratulations on an outstanding catch.

That's close to the record Hybrid for Lake Palestine, but that fish was caught in 1997. The largest I have seen is 11.5 lbs.

During the winter time it is common to catch them in one area. Last winter we caught around 200 one morning within a 30 yd stretch. Went back the next day and did it again. Any hybrid over 10 is a trophy in my opinion
