Just some, rednecks, scape steel from the pile, and a little ingenuity. Can use toolbox, drop tailgate, use the bed for "stuff, and used perforated sections (adjust-ability) to use between makes of trucks. Width of center section adjusts, and height in rear adjusts. There are Ford,Dodge and Yota guys in our bunch. additionally: I DID add a light to the back, btwn the two bottom yaks, a trailer light (tail-lamp/stop/license plate) with 4-way trailer connector I stuck the license plate clear section of the light up so shine on the load, so I can check load/straps while driving at night.

Thanks Elliot! I've been rear ended once and that was enough but I still probably use my bed extender when just me going.

I am looking to build a rack similar to yours but still be able to use my flip up bed cover. Maybe one day I will brain storm long enough to come up with an idea.

I'm digging these homemade racks. I do this. The bed has tie down hooks from the factory. I tie the kayak down through the eyes and handles it already has. I also hang a red rag for a flag from the whichever end sticks out the bed. It works bow or stern in first.
