And they can move pretty quickly. Saw one the other night snatch a june bug.

Our garage is a haven for them and is relatively clean of buggy critters. cool

We have them in the Rio Grande Valley also. Several around our front door eating bugs. When I grew up in Dallas, I had never seen one, but at the State Fair they sold little chameleons (sp?) attached by a thread to a pin, to wear on your lapel, as souvenirs or pets. But these did not have the web feet.
Down here in McAllen I once found a gheko/chameleon (I forget which) in some bananas at H.E.B. I carefully put it in a bag with some bananas, brought it home, and let it loose in my garden to eat bugs.
I was in Viet Nam as a civilian employee, and there were gheckos everywhere in our apartment (Can Tho, for those who know.) They did make some weird noises and could walk on ceilings.

When I was dating my sife to be, one of her first visits to my house was interrupted by a Gecko.

She said, there a lizard in your house. I said, no that's Fred the bug guy.

Needless to say Fred went away! They are cool to watch and compeltely harmless.

When I was a kid. I made a little place for them in my dresser drawer. I though I had them where they couldn't get out. lol But at night they would disapear from the drawer. The next morning i would look in the drawer and there they would be sleeping. I used to think that was so cool.

i have them all over my house. this time of year when the wasps are out they are priceless. i haven't had a wasp nest on my house that i've had to knock down in years. the geckos sit right by the nest and eat every wasp then eat the nest.

Med. geckos moved into our house about 15 years ago. Before they showed up we had the house exterminated at least once a year. Since they showed up, the house hasn't been exterminated once and we probably don't see 3 roaches in a year. Pest control people must hate them. I put up a few little 1x6 slats (gecko hotels) along the house eves and they are always a few under them. At night there can be a half dozen or so around every light source. Cat (totally inside cat) goes nuts chasing them as they run across the patio door at night. They are just good entertainment for everyone.

Yep, I got them too. Cool little critters. Saw one at the deer lease (near Fredericksburg) sitting right by a good size wasp nest on the side of the camp house. I didn't know they would eat the wasp but that is good to hear because we have plenty of them down there (wasp nests that is).

Those things are a fact of life in Hawaii, that is for sure. They are considered very bad luck to kill, and they are great bug killers. It was just a pain to reach into the closet in the AM for a new uniform shirt, only to find that a gecko had used it the night before as a toilet.....
