Sorry for your loss, I'm sure he will be missed! Sounds like he accomplished quite a bit in his lifetime! As a combat vet myself it always saddens me to hear of these old Vets passing, they broke the mold after they made those guys! RIP

Sorry for your loss. He sounds like a really wonderful man. Not many of the greatest generation left. We are very fortunate to have known them. Lost my Dad two months ago at 91, also a WW2 vet. Comfort is in believing they are in a better place now. Condolences to the family.

Sorry for your loss. My grandfather always told me that the lord does not take away from you the days you spend fishing.

Sorry to hear about your loss, but I'm happy to see his life was a celebration. Prayers sent for you and all those who have a heavy heart today, as they remember your uncle CL. I hope I'm still fishing at 95.

It's tough to lose friends like CL. My Grandfather that taught me to fish and hunt was like that. Still miss him.
Prayers and condolences for all the family.

Thanks to all for the condolences, as I have been reflecting on our many outings together one that comes to mind was during the spring we were sitting under the Flat Creek bridge a spot PePop knows well. As most of us do everyone has there own personal favorite jig, and his was small minnow looking thing that he got from Walmart. Nothing fancy but he had the touch and on many occassions he just flat wore me out.

This particular day though had been proceeded by rain and the water was fairly stained, and I was fishing with a bright yellow hand tied with red tail and I was just pounding him. Think I had boated about 20 fish and he hadn't even had a bite. As we were making our way around the columns me picking up a fish on nearly every column, he says, " Guess you going to have to give me one of them yellow things".

I laughed as he tied it on, and immediatly he began catching fish. I layed my rod down and let him finish out the limit and we called it day.

On the way back to his house, he looks at me and says, " Somethimes changing is not a bad thing". He was a hoot to spend the day with.

I turned 47 today and I thought a lot about my upbringing. My dad's best friend (daddy didn't like to hunt or fish much) would take me fishin and huntin and taught me a lot. my kids called him the crappie guru. You don't know how thankful I am to have known him; and for my dad to let another man have that influence on my life. God bless.
